Anticipating Construction Business Risk in Indonesia

Global economy lately has showed alarming symptoms. According to observers, this happens as Europe and US undergo financial crisis. This affects all fields of business, including construction business. How to anticipate the business risk in construction becomes an interesting topic to discuss in both academic and business aspects in order to provide knowledge and direction for businessman and policy makers.

Related to the topic, UPH Master of Civil Engineering Program in collaboration with Vibiz Property Business Academy held a seminar about Anticipating Construction Business Risk in Indonesia on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at UPH Graduate Campus, Plaza Semanggi. Speakers featured are Prof. DR. Manlian Ronald Simanjuntak (Head of UPH Graduate Program of Master of Civil Engineering), Alfred Pakasi, CFP, CWM (CEO of Vibiz Consulting ? Investment     and Financial Consultant), and DR. Ir. Irwan Nurhadi, MBA (Investment Property Analyst and Expert).

In this occasion, Alfred mentioned that global crisis effect could become Indonesia?s opportunity in construction, property, and business sector. However, the risk factors still need to be anticipated. As we are ready to anticipate the risks, the damage possibility could be reduced or avoided.

Manlian explained the importance of trust in property business. He also mentioned the importance of government?s role in regulation. ?As an educational institution, UPH is ready to help the government and policy maker in giving any information needed in research,? he stated.

The seminar is opened by Expert Staff of Ministry of Public Works, in the area of Economy and Investment, Setia Budhy Algamar, and attended by construction and property business people, bankers, and students. (ros)
