On Tuesday, February 14, 2012, UPH Industrial Engineering Student Body held a seminar themed ?Professionalism in Global Business? at MYC Multipurpose Room, UPH Lippo Village. The seminar invited speaker Karly Mulyadi, an UPH alumnus who is now an international business manager. Karly shared his experiences in international business to approximately 60 participants coming from UPH, ITB, Institut Telkom, UGM, UI, UKWM, Universitas Parahyangan, USU, Trisakti, and Ukrida.

?GPA is not everything,? told him in the beginning of the seminar. However, GPA is important to win the selection. ?The most important key to success is mindset,? he added. He explained that a person with negative mindset will see work as a trouble while the one with positive mindset will see it as an opportunity.

In this globalization era, we need to improve our competitiveness. ?We are no longer competing with the people from our nation, but also the people from other nation,? he stated. Therefore, a person must be a good professional. To be a good professional, a person must possess the good character, competence, passion, self-discipline, loyalty, sense of belonging, the ability to solve problem, initiative, courage, responsibility, the attitude to learn and be taught willingly, good communication skill, ability to maintain relationship, networking, and charisma.

This seminar was a part of EFiCN (Engineering Festival and Competition) held from February 13 ? 17, 2012. The event featured competition for university and high school students, seminars, bazaar, and music performances. (dee)
