Corrya Quando Yahya and Priscilia Pratami Intan were the students from UPH batch 2009 who succesfully took home the gold medal. Both won against 27 teams coming from 27 universities.

UPH Faculty of Medicine team succesfully won Gold Medal for category Urology and Repro in the Indonesian Medical Olympiad 2012 in Malang. This biggest olympic for medical school was held for the first time in Indonesia. This time, it took place in Faculty of Medicine Universitas Brawijaya, Malang on July 13-17, 2012.
Corrya Quando Yahya and Priscilia Pratami Intan were the students from UPH batch 2009 who succesfully took home the gold medal. Both won against 27 teams coming from 27 universities. Three steps in the competitions included 100 multiple choice questions, OSCE, and SOOCA (Student’s Objective Oral Case Analysis).
Despite this was the first competitions for both students, Corry and Priscilia did an incredible job. Corry said that the winning was a result of hard work with her partner, Priscilia and the support of their academic counselor. “Our lecturers did not only support us by preparing us academically but also mentally. They were willing to spare their time frequently to help us with academic materials, support, and facilitate us patiently. It built our strength,” Priscilia stated.
UPH learning system is based on competency based curriculum that makes the learning process more applicative. It is also supported with the best learning facility. “Our curriculum is better as the faculty has the spirit and the openmindness to criticism and suggestion to always improve the curriculum,” said Priscilia. |

In this competition, the team sent 10 students within 5 teams to compete in 5 categories. They were Corrya Quando Yahya and Priscilia Pratami Intan, Batch 2009 (Urology and Repro), Devindra Prapto and Clarissa Tertia, Batch 2009 ( usculoskeletal system), Melvin Junius and Ryan Budiyanto, Batch 2009 (Neurology), Intan Ekarulita and Michael, Batch 2009 (Respiratory and Cardio Block) and Stevanus and Odelia Fantoni, batch 2011 (Gastrohepatology). Academic counselors include dr. Theo Y Lemuel SpPD, dr. Christina Handoko SpOG , dr Viven, dr Cucu, dr Butabutar, dr Allen and dr Darti. Dr. Anila Paul, Vice Dean for Student Affairs, mentioned her gratitude for the achievement. “The winning on this prestigious competition proves that UPH Faculty of Medicine can compete with other Faculty of Medicine from universities across Indonesia.” (rh) |
