UPH Department of Students Organizations and Associations (SOA) held the 6th UPH Awards, to appreciate the outstanding students in both academic and non-academic field.

Universitas Pelita Harapan Department of Students Organizations and Associations (SOA) held the 6th UPH Awards at UPh Grand Chapel on Monday, September 24, 2012. The event was organized to appreciate the outstanding students in both academic and non-academic field. There were four categories; individual, program, student organization, and miscellaneous. One new award was presented in the UPH Awards 6, the Academic Excellence, to honor students with GPA above average. This new award would hopefully encourage the students to achieve the best grades in class.
In her speech, Connie Rasilim, Vice President I, hopes that in everything students do, they do it only for the honor and the glory of the Lord, Jesus Christ. She encouraged the students to compete each other to get the best in everything they do, without forgetting God or being arrogant.
There were 20 awards announced at the event. One of them is the Student Volunteer of the Year award, won by Theresia Risa Davita, Faculty of Medicine student batch 2008, for her voluntary action in Elective International Program. As the program manager and mentor, Theresia and her three friends were sent to Kenya, Africa, to delegate humanitarian aid. In her speech, she mentioned her gratitude to be able to experience the volunteering program with local residents and live with them for one month.
Other winner for the UKM of the Year award was UPH Choir for successfully winning four trophies at the International choir competition in Beijing this year. Those four trophies included gold medal for female choir, silver medal for male choir, bronze medal for mixed choir, and award for the peace and friendship choir.
In the midst of the announcement, UPH Choir and some bands from UPH students and lecturers came up and perform. At the top of the event, Maliq & D?Essentials performed as the guest star of UPH Awards 6.
Maliq & D?Essentials performend seven songs. When they start singing, the audiences also start to wave, claps, and sing a long. Before finalizing their performance, Angga, the lead vocalist of Maliq & D?Essentials, announced one last award, it is the HMJ/SMF of the Year. This award won by the Senat Mahasiswa Jurusan of Science and Mathematics Faculty. The last award announcement was arousing the member of the organization and also the students of that faculty to stand up and cheer, giving standing ovation. The event ended with Maliq & D?Essentials song ?Pilihanku? and formally closed by the three Masters of Ceremony.
