The student body organization of Product Design organized an exhibition on the theme of Industrialized. This exhibition has been routinely conducted each semester with different themes. The theme for this semester is related to the industrialized world, there are goods that could be mass-produced.
?We took the theme of industry, to show that the product design was not always a Kriya, or a handmade crafts. But, it is also associated with a product that can be mass manufactured and go international. The Kriya, is a crafts made using hand who has become the culture of Indonesia. Where the craft there is, there also an industry exist, “explained Geovanni Michaella, an event coordinator of Industrialized.
The selection of product design students’ works were selected by the lecturers team based on the criteria of industrial and is the work of students from batch 2010 to 2011. The works exhibited are selected according to categories based on the courses at the Product Design Department. The exhibition, which was held from 29th October to 2nd November, aim is to introduce the product design department to the students in other majors as well as the public, so that more people know about the product design department and the works carried out by the students.

The exhibition, which was held from 29th October to 2nd November, aim is to introduce the product design department to the students in other majors as well as the public, so that more people know about the product design department and the works carried out by the students.
Rio Ferdinand, S.N., M.T., Head of the Department of Product Design, claimed to be proud of his students. Because of this is the first exhibition is held with the Industrial concept which previously only by object.
“In this exhibition, we see a product design from the industrial side. Including packaging, furniture and automotive. With the industrial classification such as this, the package far more interesting, not only the concept of product, but also the design of its products,” said Rio.
?Through this exhibition, people can see that our students are gifted with out-of-the-box ideas but the packaging often leaves something to be desired. An idea has to be materialized in an attractive way for others to notice; otherwise, no one will acknowledge our talent,? he added.
The lecturers, particularly the Head of the Department himself, put great expectation that the regularity and quality of this exhibition will be maintained, or even improved, with a more professional and appealing packaging in the future such as the addition of demo videos and interactive talk shows. |
