Hospitour 2013 ?True Indonesia Masterpieces Experience?

Faculty of Tourism once again held the annual ?HOSPITOUR 2013 Hospitality and Tourism?, with this year theme ?True Indonesian Masterpieces Experience? which lasted for 6 days from April 22 to April 27, 2013. According to Michelle Angelina, from Hospitality batch 2010, ?The Hospitour has become a trademark event of UPH Faculty of Tourism (STPPH) because it is different from the other faculty of tourisms or tourism academies that also hold similar events. In STPPH Hospitour, the events are more complex; there are seminars, competitions, exhibitions and also community services that will be held in one week?.

This year theme was chosen based on the society?s condition especially on the young generation who now shifted more into the foreign art and culture. ?Through Hospitour, we want to highlight the local cultures and the human resources potential in the Indonesia tourism field. We express this theme on various programs in the one-week Hospitour. For example, we improve the skills of the tourism and the vocational school?s students with the knowledge of the Indonesian culture and tourism. We also invite the people from tourism fields, for example the UPH Tourism?s alumni, to share their career experience in Indonesia?s tourism,? said Michele.

The Hospitour also attracted various faculties of tourism, tourism academy, and vocational school from all over Indonesia. This year event especially has attracted many people from outside Jakarta such as Bandung, Surabaya, Medan, Bali, and Jogjakarta.

Cooking competition	Table set up competition	Various contests were being held such as making bed competition, cooking competition, juggling, table set up and tour guide competition. Ten teams approximately followed each category in the competition. ?Actually, there were more schools that were interested to join. However, because of time and place limitation, we only opened a maximum of three teams from each school to join in each of the competition. For the panel of judges, the committee invited the expertise of the field, for example a professional Bartender from the Arya Duta hotel, professional chef and also the owner of a well-known restaurant.?

The committee also prepared the community service program such as bartending activity for SMKN 3 Tangerang, and beauty class for SMK Pariwisata Puspa Wisata, in tangerang. In these activities the students could watch and apply the bartending skill by making mocktail by using Indonesia?s traditional ingredient. Meanwhile in beauty class, students had the chance to practice on how to apply make-up and wear neat and matching clothes. Both of these activities were taught by the STPPH students in their 6th semester. Community service was also given for the women  community of GBI Ecclesia, Tangerang. The aim of the activity was to giving the housewives new skills so that it could be used for searching more income.

The series of events in Hospitour 2013 was ended with the alumni gathering from batch 1998 ? 2008 in which approximately 150 alumni has confirmed to join the gathering. In the alumni gathering, the invitees were presented with the Indonesian traditional food that was cooked by the 2^nd semester students of STPPH. Besides gathering event, several tourism industries also came to promote the career opportunities for alumni.
