The Johannes Oentoro Library once again held the annual event, Library Annual Event (LIBANEV), which started from April 15 to April 20, 2013. This year LIBANEV, entitled ?Library and Originality?, aimed to motivate students and library?s users to develop their originality in making various intellectual works.

?LIBANEV is held every year since April 2008 altogether with the World Book Day and the celebration of William Shakespeare?s birthday as its momentum. We hope that the LIBANEV could gradually build a positive concept for the library?s user in using its facilities and services,? said Dhama Gustiar Baskoro, the Coordinator for LIBANEV.

To achieve that aim, the LIBANEV 2013 committee held a series of events, for example, Library Special Week that lasted for one week, April 15 to April 20, 2013. In this event, every visitor would be given questions about the activities and services of The Johannes Oentoro Library. Those who could answer will get a prize. Visitors were also asked to fill out their personal data on a leaf that was attached to a ?tree of knowledge?. Occasionally, the library?s officer would take several leaves and the lucky visitors would get a bookstore?s voucher. Visitors could also feel a different atmosphere in the library with the decorations and the extra services.

There was also a contest of pillar decorating with the theme of ?loving books and library? for the selected-by-major students or student body member. The winner for this competition is from the Primary Major, Faculty of Teacher College. Besides the pillar decorating competition, there was an exhibition of original works by the students of Teacher College and Faculty of Design UPH. LIBANEV also held a Literacy Seminar and Workshop with the theme ?Building an Automation Church?s Library?. The seminar was attended by the church?s members and lasted for 6 hours, from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.

This year LIBANEV was also back with the Banten?s Batik Exhibition along with the Batik Making Workshop. The event was opened for all students who wish to participate.

The LIBANEV event?s aim is to promote and to familiarize the library and its staff to all of its users such as the students, lecturers and staffs, so that they can know and use more of the various services and facilities in the library effectively. (lat/rh)
