UPH Teacher College held the commissioning service for the fourth cohort graduates. Fifty five graduates followed the ceremony on Friday, May 31 2013, from 09.00 a.m. until 12.00 p.m. in Grand Chapel, UPH Karawaci. ?Why Have You Chosen Me? became the theme that guided these new teachers-soon-to-graduates to do their duty in the future.
Participating in this ceremony were Rector of UPH, Jonathan L. Parapak; Vice-Rector of Academic Affairs, Connie Rasilim; Dean of Faculty of Education, Dra. Gunawaty Tjioe; Head of Departments; lecturers; and the founder of UPH, James T. Riady.
Also present in the commissioning service were the Corban Univeristy Board of Trustee; Sheldon Nord, President of Corban University; Matt Lucas, Provost/Executive Vice President; Janine Allen,Dean of Education, Associate Professor of Education; and Michael Patterson, Board of Trustees Chair.
To the graduates, James Riady expressed his congratulation for the graduates? hardworks in taking the education in UPH TC and a reminder for these new teachers to keep relying to God. In his message, he told the new teachers not to regard their duty based on the locations or schools, but by realizing their role as fellow workers of God in educating Indonesia?s children and to bring them to God. ?The students that will be brought in front of you are longing for a good education. Maybe in the time of 20 years later, the teachers will see their students become the leaders in various fields,? he said.
Representing Corban University, Michael Patterson, delivered his message to the graduates. He asserted the support from Corban University to the TC UPH is to prepare the qualified Christian teachers for the improvement of Indonesia?s education. The teachers that were graduated from UPH TC were good and distinct teachers. This cooperation was based on the Lord?s command to love each other, just like the Lord who loves this world. ?We are very blessed with this cooperation. We learn so many things from Indonesia and see for ourselves how Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan works for the education in Indonesia. May God bless every effort that has been done by UPH and bless the teachers who will do their duties,? Patterson said.
The procession of inauguration was done by Janine Allen, representing Corban University; Connie Rasilim, Vice President for Academic Affairs; and the Head of each department; Abednego Tri Gumono, Head of Primary Teachers Education, Dr. Yohanes Edi, Head of Secondary Biology Teachers Education and Dr. Dylmoon Hidayat, Head of Secondary Mathematics Teachers Education. Among these 55 teachers are 24 Elementary Teachers, 11 Biology Teachers, and 19 Mathematics Teachers who graduated as of today. They were positioned to the cities throughout Indonesia such as Papua, Nias, Manado, Lampung and Palembang. (rh) |
