The 2013 World Education Expo Indonesia (WEEI), the largest education exhibition, was held in Indonesia for the first time ever. A hundred or more educational institutions, local and international alike, that came from such regions and countries as Europe, Australia and New Zealand, United States, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Japan, South Korea, and PR China took part in this very exhibition. UPH is one of the many private-owned universities to have joined the 2013 WEEI, apart from several other prominent names from abroad. RMIT (Australia), UTS (Australia), Purdue University (United States), National University of Singapore, and Yonsei University (South Korea) to name a few.
This event officially commenced with some sort of opening by Fasli Jalal, the former Deputy Minister of National Education, who stated, ?Such an event is useful to serve as a path for parents and potential students in order to find out about places where they can get quality education. The improvement in terms of economic growth supports this kind of progress where getting education abroad is no longer a tough choice for Indonesian students.?
Thousands of enquiring parents, high school students, and curious public visited during the event that lasted for (3) three days, February 14-16, 2013, at Balai Kartini Expo Hall on Gatot Subroto St. South Jakarta.
Johana Suprapto, Manager of UPH International Affairs, endeavored to elaborate just how packed the UPH booths were, ?Students coming from various international schools were asking a lot of questions about Medicine, Business School, Law, and several other faculties. Cost and quality of education are major considerations amongst the students. Some of them, manifestly interested to enroll, came back the next day along with their parents.?
During the 2013 WEEI event, some side events also took place. People gathered for a seminar as well as admission tests for new students intake. (rh) |
