UPH Business School Organized Training for UKM in Tangerang

Universitas?Pelita Harapan Business School?organized community service program in the form of Business Development Training with the theme the Implementation of Distribution Channel and the Comprehension of an Effective Consumer Behavior and The Practice of Conducting the Bookkeeping on Small and Medium Enterprises in Tangerang District. This was the third time Business School held a community service program in Business Development field.

UKM that participated in this program came from 29 sub-districts in Tangerang such as from Teluk Naga, Panongan, Paku Haji, and Kemiri. The UKM types were also varied such as bamboo hat, bag, shoes, wallet, table and modeling crafting for kindergarten needs, food, and many more.

 

Budi Hartono, the program coordinator from Management explained that the community service was designed and targeted for UKM that had difficulties or obstacles in running their business such as difficulties in marketing, packaging, brand and others. The lecturers also helped in overcoming those problems by giving knowledge from the perspective of distribution management, the final product, and the consumers? behavior. ?The consumers? behavior emphasized more on how a product from an UKM will not be misunderstood by the consumers, therefore, the UKM members first must understand who will be their targeted consumers,? explained Budi.

 

Radityo and Sabrina presented the seminar with the management topic. Meanwhile, Lina and Antonius Herusetya presented the accounting topic where the UKM members were taught on how to make bookkeeping by using Microsoft Excel.

 

According to Ida, the Cooperative Chairman who managed the 29 UKM in Tangerang, this training was very useful for the participants. ?This training opened the UKM members? insight and motivated them to improve their business, for example, by managing the distribution, packaging, and the production method in a sophisticated way. With this development training, the UKM members were encouraged to distribute and promote their goods through exhibitions that are held in Smesco as well as regional and national exhibitions. Now, these UKM has known how to make a label for their products and how to consider the calorie content as well as the quality of the ingredients for making the foods,? explained Ida.

 

?Thus this kind of seminar was very helpful in advancing the UKM,? said Ida who also hoped that this kind of program could be held more frequently. (lat)
