In UPH Festival, parents are one of the elements that are always invited to join in the event ? considering that students? parents or families are the main element of the three pillars of education, aside from education and religious institution. In this year UPH Festival 20, the parents-oriented program is ?Parents Gathering? and introduction to the campus life. In this program, parents will get directions on how to educate and to build good characters in their children. Dr. (Hon) James T. Riady is the speaker for this program who directly present in front of the parents. Meanwhile for parents whose children are going to live in UPH dorm will have the chance to hear campus? life explanation from Stephen Metcalfe, Director of MYC.

Campus Life Parent Gathering
In the ?Campus Life Parent Gathering?, Dr. (Hon) James T. Riady said that as parents, children should get their full support, because the main foundation in life is family. When a family had the ?spirit of anti-family?, then all of the efforts would go waste. Therefore, the role of a family in a child is very important. Many children already have a low level of discipline and sense of responsibility, and this should be a warning for parents to keep attention on the development of their children. James also particularly said that every child should know their callings and talents so they could focus and develop further in their life. Because, often parents force their children to follow in their own plans, and that should be avoided due the disturbance it might caused to the children?s personality

Residential Gathering
Among many worries that parents might have in educating their children, UPH help parents to build their children?s character with dorm program. This program was discussed in the ?Residential Gathering? where its aim is for every child to have a good life and afraid of God. Mr. Matt, Director of MYC, said that he already experienced the feels of being a parent. He really wants his child to have a good life and a good character. UPH give the dorm facility that has regulations and also activities that can build discipline, independence, character and good spiritual life so students could have a responsible life towards each other, their surroundings and even to God.
The importance of parents? role in children characteristic development is one aspect that must not be forgotten. It is expected that parents keep learning to build a good family in order to achieve a true successful life.

Introduction to Deans and Lecturers
Thousand parents of UPH students joined in the event where they came from various regions in Indonesia. Besides getting explanation on campus life, parents were also introduced to the deans and lecturers from the faculties. After the event, parents could participate in the campus tour and join in the UPH Festival 20 Closing Ceremony at the UPH Soccer Field. (IRU)
