The opening event of Miss UPH Scholar 2014 on October 22, 2013 featured the performance from 20 finalists of Miss UPH Scholar 2013. UPH Rector-Jonathan L. Parapak, Vice President for Academic Affairs-Connie Rasilim, UPH BEM Chairman-Vincentius Dicky, and representatives from Majelis Perwakilan Mahasiswa-MPM UPH (Student Representative Board) came to watch this event.
At the event, UPH Rector-Jonathan L. Parapak specifically added one more criteria for Miss UPH Scholar 2014, Faith. ?Faith should be shown on how we think, how we bring ourselves to others, and how we behave,? explained Parapak about faith that will be the starting point for three other criteria of Miss UPH Scholar ? Brain, Beauty, and Behavior (3B).

Miss UPH Scholar is an event to search UPH students to be the ambassador or representative of UPH ? both inside and outside campus ? that have the 3B characters and faith as well as reflecting UPH value ? true knowledge, faith in Christ and godly character. Vincentius Dicky hoped that the winner of Miss UPH Scholar 2014 could inspire students in behaving and living as UPH students who uphold UPH value. He also hoped that through this event, BEM UPH could affect and inspire UPH students to strive their dreams as well as advancing and making UPH proud.

Miss UPH Scholar 2014 Chairperson- Sharon Tanasal

This year, Sharon Tanasal (Accounting 2011) is the chairperson for Miss UPH Scholar 2014. She hoped that Miss UPH Scholar is not only able represent UPH but also represent the 20 finalists who also have the 3B quality and faith. Beside that, to improve the overall quality, committee of Miss UPH Scholar 2014 invite Student Body and Senate to send their representatives from each major ? although it does not impose any compulsoriness for the major.

Miss UPH Scholar 2013 ? Nerissa Pamela also encouraged UPH students to take part in this event. According to her, there are many fun and unforgettable experience in this event ? from the registration, selection, quarantine to grand final. She hoped that Miss UPH Scholar 2014 could do better and find the next Miss UPH Scholar. (ym)
