“Better ToGather”, an event from BEM-UPH, gathers all student organizations and communities, as well as for staffs and lecturers in UPH.

Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH), has grown into a university with so many student organizations in UPH that keep on growing their quality year by year, such as Senat Mahasiswa Fakultas (SMF), Himpunan Mahasiswa Jurusan (HMJ), Unit Kegiatan Mahasiswa (UKM), and other communities in UPH. Every student organization in UPH has its own management function and structure that differs it from one another.

Badan Eksekutif Mahasiswa UPH (BEM-UPH) realizes the importance of unity and togetherness in UPH. BEM-UPH feels that UPH actually is one big family with all organizations and communities within it. Eventhough UPH is divided into many parts, those organizations and communities cannot stand alone. They still need to build a good relationship not only between them but also with staffs and lecturers of UPH. There is still a necessity to find a way for this one big family to unite and collaborate, using each organizations? strengths to serve UPH.
“Better ToGather”, an event from BEM-UPH, gathers all student organizations and communities, as well as for staffs and lecturers in UPH. Mr. Raymond Liu, the president of UPH also participatedin this event to give his speech and opinions about this event. Better ToGatherwhich was held on 9th of November 2013 gathered a total of 145 attendees from all student organizations, staffs, and lecturers in UPH.

Leonardo Chandra (Civil Engineering 2012), the Head of Committee, said that Better ToGather gives many impacts and fun sessions. Better ToGather started with talk show by Raymond Aditya and Jennifer Terisno as President and Vice President of BEM-UPH 2012/2013, Kenny Mitchell as President of HMJ Food Technology 2012/2013, and Stephanie Suan as President of HMJ Communication 2012/2013. The talk show was about the importance of togetherness and solidarity inside student organization or community. After the talk show, Mr. John Riady also participated in this event as a speaker. He presented a seminar which is talking about how to unite all organizations and communities in UPH to have the same vision, which willlead UPH to be better.

Funny and hilarious games made the participants to know each other from different communities
|
After the talk show, the seminar sessions along with luncheon, the participants continued to play funny and hilarious games. The participants were grouped in random order to get them to know people from different student organizations and communities. After the games, we had barbeque in the evening with some musical instruments provided, so anybody could play if they want to and sing along together. Everybody seemed to enjoy the moments and had a lot of fun. There were also photo booth, rewards for the winners from the games, and also door prize for the lucky participants.

So many participants gave compliments about the event and they were thankful because they were able to gather with other student organizations in UPH. Leo hoped that from this event, all organizations and communities, lecturers, and staffs in UPH will be united as one and work together as family because “Together is Always Better”!
