To prepare for the upcoming presidential election on July 2014, three president candidates from the Demokrat party became the speaker in the Dia.lo.gue event on January 15, 2014 at UPH. These three speakers are Dino Patti Djalal, Anies Baswedan, and Gita Wirjawan. Together, they expressed their idea and plan for Indonesia if one of them is chosen to take the president seat.
Moderated by Pangeran Siahan, the three speakers gave their answers toward the questions about their vision and mission for Indonesia. The three of them shared a more or less similar vision, to pursue a better transformation in Indonesia.
When they were asked about the reason behind taking the candidacy, all of them said that they are optimistic for the potential that they currently have. Added with the good will to solve existing disorders, they finally decide to step up for the election.
Regarding to his presidential candidacy, Gita Wirjawan said, ?I already have experienced many things, and I saw that Indonesia lacks many things, and those lacking actually can be done in a much better way.?
Meanwhile, Anies Baswedan, with his suggested program ?Indonesia Mengajar?, believed that he is able to change Indonesia through people that are empowered with education and moral that started from the root. ?I want to change the quality of Indonesia people. Actually, Indonesia has many blessings. The natural resources are abundant; there are many things that could be achieved if those resources are utilized correctly. But unfortunately, the quality of human resources must be improved first. Make the human resources become the center of all,? said Anies.
For Dino Pati Djalal, his reason to step up into the candidacy is because of his plan to change the poverty rate in Indonesia. ?We are now in the era that is very dynamic. If Kazakhstan is able to press down their poverty rate 5% compared to last year, then I am sure that Indonesia can also do the same thing,? he affirmed.
