On 18 August 2014, all the academic civitas of Universitas Pelita Harapan attended the ceremony of 69th Indonesia Independence Day at Basketball Court UPH, Lippo Village. This ceremony was attended by 1500 parcipants which are students, lecturers, and staffs, lead by Jonathan L Parapak (UPH Rector).

 

Indonesia national anthem ?Indonesia Raya? was sang by all the participants in the ceremony with the procession of flag-raising of the country. Then, the ceremony was continued by the reading of proclamation text, 1945 constitution, and Pancasila.

Jonathan L. Parapak had also convey the opening speech of Indonesia prime minister of education and culture which stated that there will be a lot of of adversities in the future to handle and it?s important to maintain a good quality of education but also affordable to be able to produce young generations that have compatibility on attitude, knowledge, and skills as a whole. They will be the generation that can think higher, creative, innovative, well-mannered, and also be a proud citizen of Indonesia.

 

The ceremony went on with a serene and formal atmosphere

In this context, UPH has also contributed their effort to create generation that can handle and answer all the challenges that happened this year, through high quality of the education programs.

 

?There?s alot of adversities that we need to face this year, so let?s face this together with the spirit of our independence struggle. UPH will give the best effort to fill this independence day. UPH is the only university that proceed Liberal Arts subjects and Acceleration program for the students. Let?s do the best, full of spirit to show our contribution for the country?.

After the speech from UPH Rector, the ceremony was closed with a prayer by Raymond Liu, UPH President and also sing along of ?17 August? by the participants. (ca/pris)
