On November 17, 2014, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Ministry) in collaboration with Universitas Pelita Harapan held a National Seminar on Act No. 24 of 2000 on International Agreements (UU PI) in Building D, UPH.

On November 17, 2014, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Foreign Ministry) in collaboration with Universitas Pelita Harapan held a National Seminar on Act No. 24 of 2000 on International Agreements (UU PI) in Building D, UPH. This seminar discussed about the planned changes to the Act (Act) No. 24 of 2000 on International Agreements.
This national seminar presented speakers from academia, government and legal practitioners. The seminar was also attended by experts, representatives from government, academia, practitioners and students.
In his remarks, he also introduced UPH to the participants from global campus through cooperation programs with prestigious universities around the world. Thus, the theme is regarded as a very important value to be observed by UPH. At the end of his speech, he emphasized that this seminar should be given considerate attention since it is beneficial to the Indonesian society and in order that one day, Indonesian presence would be able to receive the whole world?s attention.
The seminar was followed by a keynote speech from Ambassador Ferry Adamhar, Director General of Law and International Treaties. He expressed his appreciation to UPH on the excellent cooperation that this seminar can eventually be executed smoothly. In his speech, he stressed that the international treaty law-making process is very important and should be based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution Act. The ever-increasing number of International Treaty Act or International Conferences that are ratified by Indonesia makes the existence of Act No. 24 of 2000 becomes very important as the rule of law and legal guidelines regarding clear international agreement.
This national seminar was divided into three sessions with different focus topics. The first session was held at 10:00 am, presenting Ambassador Dr. Eddy Pratomo, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia for Germany for the period of 2009-2013 and Prof. Dr. Bintan R. Saragih, Dean of UPH Faculty of Law, as the speakers. Second session was held at 13:30 to 15:30, presenting Prof. Dr. Harjono, Former Judge of the Constitutional Court and Abdulkadir Jailani, Foreign Ministry Director of Ekososbud (Economics, Social, and Culture) Agreement, as the speakers. The third session was held at 15:45 to 17:00, presenting Dr. iur. Damos Dumoli Agusman, UPH Lecturer, as the speaker.(ca/cla)
