Hanna, a student of UPH FON 2014, was selected as runner-up at Poster Competition in the National Nursing Seminar and Expo 2014, held by the Fakultas Ilmu Keperawatan (FIK) of Universitas Indonesia, on November 17-22, 2014. The theme of this poster competition was Clean and Healthy Lifestyle (CHL). In the process of poster-making, Hanna received input from seniors and learned the principles of healthy living through a variety of sources. Hanna started the appeal of CHL on his poster with hand washing. “Hands are the hotbeds of germs and diseases, but they are also a member of the body that play an important role in cleanliness. Since hygiene starts from our own hands, so I select that object as the main image. The image is complemented with simple illustrations and information on healthy living steps, this poster invites people to care and willing to do a healthy life, “said Hanna.
In the 2014 NURSE competition, UPH FON sent 11 students to participate in three competition categories namely poster design, essay and trivia quiz. For the essay contest, two teams from UPH FON successfully reached the 8th and 9th rank out of 18 participants. While the category of trivia quiz, two teams from UPH FON reached the 7th and 9th rank out of 13 teams participating. Via Monika, student of FON 2013, the 8th rank for essay contest?, said that the preparation for this competition was fairly abrupt, approximately one week. “In joining and completing this competition, I felt quite aided by the existence of a supervisor who contributed giving opinion and responding to the results of my writing. This experience encouraged me to be able to provide better performances for UPH FON,” said Via. The event was attended by nursing faculties from various public and private universities in Indonesia such as Jakarta Hospital Nursing Foundation, Diponegoro University, Airlangga University, Jendral Soedirman University, Padjadjaran University, Udayana University, Gajah Mada University, Brawijaya University, Jambi University, Andalas University, etc. Dean of UPH FON, Christine L. Sommers, welcomed these achievements joyfully and motivated students to continue giving the best in every opportunity. The competition was intended as a forum for the nursing students? self-development in achievements, to show their identity to the public, as well as a training tool in developing their knowledge and ability. The theme carried by NURSE 2014 was “Know The Nurses, Know Your Friends.” The event established 8 categories of competitions, seminars and talk shows. The talk show was held on November 20, 2014, with the theme “Manage Your Stress Manage Your Health“, presenting Ns. Imelda Yanti, M.Kep, Sp.Kep.An., CH, CHt, CI, CNNLP, C.STMI (founder of INC / Indonesian Nursing Center). In addition, on November 22, 2014, the National Nursing Seminar was held with the theme of “How To Be a Global Nurse” with speakers Widasari Sri Gitarja, S.Kep. RN. WOC(ET)N dan Prof. Achir Yani S.
