UPH Conservatory of Music held another recital, this time featuring Joseph Hopkins, Professor and Dean of School of Arts from Samford University, collaborating with several musicians and vocalists and choirs, such as Suzanne Hopkins, Soprano, Ridolf Hehanusa, Tenor, Michael Patilla, Guitarist, Alfred Situmorang, Pianist, UPH Chorus Class, and UPH Choir. This recital took place on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2015, at Auditorium Building D, UPH Campus.

There were more than 15 songs sung, with the theme From Sacred, To Serious, To Silly. The theme was a concept from Joseph Hopkins? own thoughts, starting ?From Sacred?, which were the songs that depict life largely dedicated to serving the Lord, ?To Serious?, which were the songs that describe Joseph Hopkins? involvement in the academic world, ?To Silly?, which were the songs that sounded more enjoyable and funny. The songs sung were packaged very beautifully and succeeded ininspiring theaudience?s hearts.

The musicians involved actually showed a remarkable work of their God-given talents. The audience really enjoyed the whole range of music and songs, the musicians were even able to direct the hearts of every audience to join in glorifying God. It is just as stated by Ridolf Hehanussa, Head of Department of Church Music and UPH Vocal who had the opportunity to perform a duet with Joseph Hopkins, “I see that music has an enormous power, it can penetrate the entire wall of impenetrable. Hopefully, UPH continues to advance in the art world, so the world can see Christ through music “.

The whole performers performed remarkably. UPH Choir was also very stunning singing marencong-rencong and the audience really liked the song. “Probably a lot of the audience have never heard of this song, especially the foreign guests. Perhaps when they returned to the United States, they will no longer hear that song. All the songs really glorify God,” said Tutu Sukendro, UPH Choir Conductor.

More than 200 people comprising ofUPH leaders, lecturers, students, and the public came to watch this show. These following are the testimonies from some of them:

“This evening?s concert has an extraordinary quality and it shows a development of God-given talents and restored to the glory of God. We hope to inspire a lot of people, especially we hope thatUPH Conservatory of Music will be better and better.”

“This concert is different from the usual that I often see. Because the songs are a combination of classic, contemporary, and pop songs. In addition, there is always a surprise in every appearance that makes the audience constantly intrigued. I myself feel very blessed. “

Yessy Filadelvia ? UPH Faculty of Church Music

“The concert was really good, Mr. Hopkins? performance was a real blessing. I personally learned a lot from Mr. Hopkins, when I was at UPH Choir, he gave meaning to every song that he sung. So he does not merely sing, but the message of the song is always conveyed successfully. “
