Creative industry is an essential aspect for Indonesia to gain competitive advantage with other countries, especially considering the ASEAN Economic Community 2015 is just around the corner. Creative industry, in fact, experiences a rapid progress, specifically with the sector related to science and technology. Besides, creative industry is a place to develop human resources dynamically. However, creative industry is sometimes underestimated as the place only for artist, designer, or eccentric people that do not need business calculation. Government also puts less attention to this particular industry, which in fact, is positioned as 7 out of 10 economic sectors as an industry with the highest GDP (Gross Domestic Product) contribution in 2013 (ANTARA News).

The above explanation is an event background released by UPH Industrial Engineering website, specifically UPH Industrial Engineering student council (HMTI) for the biggest event they have, The 7th Engineering Festival and Competition (EFiCn) 2015 with the theme, ?Creative Innovations for the Future Industry?, 4-7, 16-17 May 2015 at UPH Karawaci campus. The EFiCN theme was selected because the industrial engineering graduates have the most appropriate and strategic roles in the blueprint concept of Indonesia, Triple Helix, the integration of government, academician, and entrepreneurs? roles as the foundation of creative industry in Indonesia. This event was expected to increase the seriousness of the citizens and government in developing the creative industry, that in fact will not run out of raw materials.

EFiCN 2015 consisted of two big events, University EFiCN and Festival EFiCN, University EFiCN was held on 4-7 May, participated by 24 teams which came from universities around Indonesia such as Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gajah Mada, Universitas Parahyangan, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Trisakti, Universitas Atma Jaya, Universitas Andalas Padang, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, Universitas Tarumanegara, Universitas Sahid, Universitas Kristen Krida Wacana, Universitas Pelita Harapan and Universitas Telkom with the judges Hiu Kurniawan (Strategic Planning & Retail Management Better Life Commercial Chain Co. According to Daisy Amanda (IE 2013) as Head of Publication EFiCN 2015, commented this event was really beneficial for participants and committees. ?Not only increase my knowledge and insights about industrial engineering, EFiCn participants could add more connection with other universities from all around Indonesia. Through this event, EFiCn could be the place to practice the sense of responsibility.? (el)
