As students who are in transition between study life and professional work, they must always be equipped through practical programs, even from the beginning of the uni-life. This was then proven by UPH Career Center through a Career Workshop partnered with UPH Accounting Department that presented Ernst & Young (EY) Indonesia as the keynote speaker with the theme ?How to Excel your Career Path in the CPA (Big Four) Frims?? on 22 May 2015 at MYC UPH. Workshop was delivered by Pandu Dewa Sunu, Assistant Director Talent-Recruitment EY, and was attended by approximately 160 students of UPH Accounting Department.
According to UPH Accounting lecturer, Lina, SE., AK., M.Si., CA, this workshop?s purpose was for UPH Accounting students to understand where their careers are heading to , ?For majority of accounting students, it is a dream job to pursue career in Certified Public Accountant (CPA) that are included in Big 4. Besides, the advantage of pursuing career in Big 4 is that we can understand more types of industry as clients. It is different from working in a particular industry, such as bank, manufacturing, and others, which can only understand one particular industry. So, students could gain more opportunities as well as more challenges in working in a Big 4,? elaborated Lina.
The workshop was comprised of information regarding the CPA in general, the career path, services offered, and others, as well as tips and tricks to apply for jobs, especially in Big 4. Pandu said, generally all multinational companies give high appreciations regarding the work performance, ?If you perform well, you?ll be well-rewarded,? said Pandu. In addition, the participants were trained on how to write effective curriculum vitae (CV), how to look for jobs, how to make use of social media that is connected to professionals from companies that offers jobs, as well as how to create personal brand. This workshop was delivered with an unique method of role play, where the speaker selected several students to play role as interviewer and interviewee in order to show the right and proper techniques on job interview.
