The theme of ?Integrated Media in Globalization Era? is the source of thinking from the Dean of Faculty of Social and Political Science UPH, Prof. Aleksius Jemadu, Ph.D., which was stated on his opening remark. Prof. Aleksius also gave motivation to students to be more sensitive to the development of media industry that is highly related to the Communication Department. ?It is hoped that you can learn from all things, not only from the classrooms, but also from professionals like Mr. Sachin Gopalan so this could be the source of knowledge needed for the your future professional works,? uttered Prof. Aleksius.

In his seminar, Sachin Gopalan elaborated several essential things regarding the media and globalization. Having experiences for 18 years in the media industry, Sachin gave a very applicative teaching. He stated that the definition of Integrated Media itself keeps changing according to the trend dynamics. Formerly, we had printed and electronic media, the printed one offered news such as text (only visual) and the electronic one delivered news such as audip and visual. The method to receive that media had so many ways. However, nowadays, the Integrated Media applications can be used in only one smatphone. ?Your cellphones now is the perfect example of Integrated Media, you can access any type of news with only your smartphone,? said Sachin. 

Talking about the relation between Integrated and Globalization, Sachin gave example of one country that has a excessive control of the media existence even blocking very closely the media access, that is North Korea. Mostly all of us have no idea of what happens in North Korea, and neither do they. ?In the world of globalization, we must know what happens in this world to compete with the world itself. Yet, how we can find out what happens out there if we do not optimize the media even fully block it,? said Sachin. He also added that behind the free media access that Indonesia has, the negative effects of the free media must be avoided. The way is to be careful in publishing something, because with the integrated media nowadays, everyone from all corners of the world does have access to the news being broadcasted.

This seminar was attended by 80 UPH students, who are mostly the students of UPH Communication Department. This also received good responses from students, by the question and answer sessions. Several issues that were asked by students to Sachin were the media issues as well as type of jobs in media industry. (fc)
