The service started with an opening prayer by Dr. Niel Nielson, Ph.D., Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer, Pelita Harapan Educational Foundation, followed by an opening speech by the Rector of UPH, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc. In his speech, he expressed his gratefulness to God, because once again UPH has  graduated the best teachers who will work for education in Indonesia. He declared that, for the first time these 162 TC UPH graduates will receive three titles at once, they are Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) from Corban University, Sarjana Pendidikan (S.Pd) from Universitas Pelita Harapan and also a certification from the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). ?This was an appreciation for the graduates who have committed themselves to serve God through education. I shall inform the parents, that these graduates had gone through a very strict education, so proudly, UPH and Corban University sent them, to serve God wholeheartedly as teachers in schools all over Indonesia,? revealed Dr. (Hon) Jonathan.

James T. Riady, Founder of UPH, also emphasized that these graduates had gone through the most strict screening, ?You have to be Christian, you?ve got to have talents, in and for education, sufficient knowledge of the Bible, adequate competency of theology, a balanced structure of life and you got to understand what is calling. Thus, you have to set an example at every place you are assigned to,? James stated. He bravely said that Teachers College UPH is the only university that has the most strict system in Indonesia, in South-East Asia and even in entire Asia. ?Teachers College UPH has given an amazing equipment for its graduates, we combined Corban University and UPH, and even adopt educations from the best Christian Universities in the world,? James added. Therefore, he reminded the teachers to really give their best, because the University Senate has given the best, and even God has been first to give the best. ?Wherever you are being placed, you have to be a living sacrifice. You don?t have to die, because God had died for all of you, your struggle is to live, as the living sacrifice. To revive every children in your class and in schools, where you are being placed,? he stated.

A strengthening advice for these graduates were also delivered by Dr. Matt Lucas, Corban University Provost, ?In any condition of life, abide in Christ,? he repetitiously stated, followed by the graduates saying ?tinggalah dalam Kristus?

This Teachers College Cohort 2011 Commisioning Service was closed with a touching performance by 162 TC UPH graduates who sang ?Kemana Saja (Wherever You Lead)? by Stephen Tong, as an expression of commitment to be ready for their calling as Christian teachers, to every place they are assigned to.
