UPH Business School hosts Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship to high school students on July 14-15, 2015. This program gives opportunity to every student to develop leadership skill and increases the interest in business. Packed in a very captivating and simple way, this program summarizes all the business activity as an introduction in modern business world that they will learn in university.
This two days program is participated by 8 high school students from grade 10-12 from several Indonesia high schools including SMA Santa Ursula BSD, Tunas Bangsa Christian School, Bukti Sion, SMA St. Leon 2, SMA Katholik St. Thomas Aquino, SMA Athisa Dipamkara dan SMA 1 Jayapura.
The first day began with the Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship by Grace Salim, Executive Director of UPH Business School. The second session is titled Value Creation: Creating Product/Services shared by Danet Patria, UPH Business School lecturer. On this session, Daned explained that in business, the most important thing is value. Value is not always related to material or money, but it is about benefit, service, and other things. Consumer will perceive value from products or services they consume. This what is understood as Consumer Perceived Value (CPV), a difference in consumer?s perception toward the overall benefit and cost that they should sacrifice to purchase or use a product compared to other alternative products. ?That is why, it is important for business persons to create the needed value from consumer for the product,? added Danet. These sessions gained a positive feedback from participants. They even asked couple of questions, making the sessions more interactive.
The first day was continued with Entrepreneurship & Me (Knowing Yourself) by Tanggor Sihombing and Wrap Up session. On the second day, July 15, 2015, participants visited Maxx Coffee and Cinemaxx to learn directly about the company business. They were also given opportunity to learn as barista and make coffee at Maxx Coffee. Lastly, the participants followed the Online Aptitude Test & Result and Reflection on Marketplace Visit & Presentation.(fc/nn)
