On October 12 to 28, 2015 the department organized DKV UPH Artistic Photography exhibition themed URBAN/A in the UPH lobby B Gallery. This exhibition is the work of DKV students in elective courses namely Artistic Photography, under the guidance of several professors, among them, Drs. Winoto Usman, Ernest Irwandi, S.Sn., M.Ds., and Chandra Djoko, S.Sn., M.Ds.
According to Djoko, Artistic Photography is the art of photography generated from the subjectivity of the artist of photography itself (personally) to express / conveying ideas / impression / message / mind through imagination, expression, emotion, vision, perception and perspective freely and creatively (element/aesthetic value) to others in the form of an exhibition with the media (2D or 3D) and certain material. “In this case, the photographer himself has confidence in his work containing the dignity and aesthetic value, to impose public recognition as an art rather than a craft, because Artistic Photography has always been identified with the term decoration photography or wall decorations, which involves the sale of large photography that can be used as art media,” said Djoko.
Artistic Photography Exhibition is the first photography exhibition in DKV UPH because even the classes have only been held for two times, “Therefore, this exhibition as one of the response and appreciation of lecturers to students on their work. In addition, this course?s lecturer also participate in contributing their works to be exhibited,” said Djoko.
In addition, Djoko also said that the purpose of this exhibition is to provide ample opportunity for students to express and initiate photographs with a single or serial concept. Visual expression is then poured into molds varied digital material other than photo paper materials in general. The expressed visual then are shown in digital printing with various material beside the general photo medium. Printing medium is adjusted by the upheld theme proposed by each artwork. “This exhibition work as a mean to introduce and demonstrate a work of art to the public. The work of the students featured in this exhibition can be meaning to appreciate the process and learning outcomes of students in developing creativity and ability in the world of design,” he concluded.
