One of the seven exclusive qualities UPH offers for its students is career training which suits each individual competence. In this case, UPH helps and guides students in their transition period between college world and the carrier world, one of them is by holding the Career Expo or it could also be said as a job opportunities exhibition for legitimate companies.
At the same time with the Career Expo on November 13, 2015, through the Alumni and Corporate Relations, UPH held a Company Gathering to strengthen cooperation as well as to give gratitude to every company who is willing to cooperate with UPH in terms of vacancies provision for UPH students. This year?s Company Gathering was attended by 65 representations from 18 companies. One of the seven exclusive qualities UPH offers for its students is career training which suits each individual competence.
The reason why many workers with great performance, attitude and character, often leave the company, according to Augustinus, according to the research, is because the company itself which lack responses in providing what its workers need. ?In many occasions, companies are way too stiff, so they only push workers to achieve the established goal. In the end, those workers would just become robots, and time by time they will get tired and sick of that company,? said Augustinus.
According to Augustinus, there are some factors which affect the creation of a supporting working atmosphere, where workers are extremely loyal to the company, one of the factors is superiors? contribution in the work life of the workers. ?There are three things that workers would value from their superiors, ?Does he/she love??, ?Does he/she trust?? and ?Does he/she care??, when they didn?t find these three values within their superiors, let alone loyalty, even to work, it should be a really hard thing for them,? said he. He also added that when inner attachment is present, then that worker would most possibly be doing all their work even without being asked.
Augustinus said that in the other side, companies have to enhance their workers skill in other field, such as by giving trainings, mentoring and coaching, as well as giving them the confidence and trust to keep innovating and be creative. ?A superior has to be smart in seeing the passion within their workers. Working has to be done by heart, mind as well as hands, but when the mind and the heart don?t synchronize, by means that if the job doesn?t suit their passion, just don?t even wish for them to work maximally, by the end, they?re just going to leave,? said Augustinus sternly.
Furthermore, Augustinus explained that loyalty is not always caused by the amount of wage the company gives to its workers, but it?s more about how the workers feel about being apart in their job, in which this feeling comes from their superior and how their working environment support their mental needs. After the explanation, several questions was thrown by a number of representatives of the companies present, about tips and tricks to handle workers and how to be a superior who is able to reach out to the large number of workers.
The event was ended by a presentation from the Alumni &Corporate Relations Department, represented by Ir. NursariDewiLugito, M.Pd.,as the Director. After that, participants were allowed to have a suave session while enjoying the dishes available.(fc) UPH Media Relations
