Through the Communication Festival (Comvee) 2016, Students of the Communication Major of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) used ?Creative Communication? as its main topic, by presenting a social media activist, Arief Muhammad in a seminar themed ?The Role of Creative Communication towards Cultural Transformation? on May 25, 2016 at the D 502 Building of UPH Karawaci, encouraged young generation, such as students, to optimize the role of creative communication for a cultural transformation. One of the ways is by using social media.
Arief Muhammad himself is an active and well-known public figure amongst the young people who are active in social media. It all started from his twitter account, with @poconggg as his username, up until now, he is known as a creative guy, through his vlogs in Youtube, as well as his Instagram account @Ariefmuhammad.
To begin the seminar, Prof. Aleksius Jemadu, Ph.D., the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, stated the importance of this event, both in terms of content and implementation, which gave great advantages for the committee |

After the opening speech from Prof. Aleksius, the event was then continued with a session with Arief Muhammad. Right after opening the session with an introduction, Arief, who will soon be a lawyer, right after his Advocacy test, also shared his daily life. Then, Arief continued his presentation by explaining the extremely-influential-power-of-social-media.

For Arief the core of communication is how to ensure that the words we?re about to say is said in a good tone and to the point. Personally, Arief didn?t agree about a ?to-the-point? communication. Because of that, he had his own tips to communicate creatively, they?re the ?3C?, creative, a character which can differ one from another, clear content and consistent. According to Arief, consistency is the hardest thing to do.
Right now, social media is getting more love from people and its development pushes creative people to find a way to communicate demand-wise.
?If you want to use creative communication to contribute for this nation, the important thing is, you should not be satisfied easily, you have to be yourself and keep improving your quality,? Arief added.
The seminar in this year?s Comvee was attended by approximately 100 participants with positive respond; it could be seen from the number of questions the participants asked to Arief. Moreover, this seminar was also enlivened with an Instagram photo competition held by W?Dank Jahe from Nutrifood, together with Comvee UPH, where participants were supposed to take a pic with W?Dank Jahe and use the #ngeWdankmoment and #comvee2016 hashtag. This competition was won by @viviekasaribalai, @dd.laturake and @peterlewi (mt)
