The socialization for the 23rd UPH Festival has been aired through 100.6 FM Heartline Radio, on August 8 and 10, 2016. As the media partner for the 23rd UPH Festival, Heartline Radio invited the key speakers of the 23rd UPH Festival, to share some information about the biggest annual event of UPH.

The first session was aired on August 8, 2016, from 08.00 ? 09.00 WIB, with three key speakers; Andry M. Panjaitan, The Head Committee of the 23rd UPH Festival, Jeffry Wijaya, The Vice Head of the 23rd UPH Festival and Maria Natalia Satyarti Aryani (Tyar), as the coordinator of the 23rd UPH Festival.

In this session, the topic was about UPH welcoming of new students as a part of holistic education. With Riama Silitonga as the host, this Talk Show turns out to be very lively.

Andry briefly explained about the background of the festival format which UPH uses to welcome its new students since 2006.

?Since its first year of establishment, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) had decided to choose a new form to welcome the new students without any hazing. Since 2006, the orientation program in UPH has turned to be a festival which was held to welcome new students, alumni, parents and the public, as well as to celebrate the beginning of the new academic year,? he explained.

About the theme of the 23rd UPH Festival, which is called ?Reach Further?, it was taken from Isaiah 49:6. Andry also explained that UPH does not just focus on the knowledge aspect, but more importantly, it focuses on faith and character. Because of that, the education system in UPH includes the involvement of the body, soul, and spirit, to create a whole human being, so that when they graduated they could become a blessing for the nation.

Jeffry also added the spirit within the 23rd UPH Festival?s theme which is very closely related to the vision and mission of UPH.

?Because of that, we would like to welcome the new academic year with full reliance on God. And with this festival, UPH would like to welcome new students, parents and all of the existing student of UPH as well as the alumni and public to attend this event,? said Jeffry.

Another interesting thing in UPH Festival is Parents gathering. ?In UPH Festival, parents are also involved. Because UPH sees that the role of parents is very crucial in educational process and it is one of the education pillars. Because of that, parents have to know and understand the place where their children studies and the education process here in UPH,? Jeffry added.

At one point, Riama also mentioned about the relation between the juniors and seniors in the orientation. To explain this, Tyar as the event coordinator explained about the mentoring activities, yet another uniqueness that UPH has.

?Mentors are especially trained and prepared to help their juniors. This year, there were more than 350 mentors who were trained and every mentor will assist 10 new students and for a whole year, they?re going to assist them, not just academically, but also in various aspects, such as the mentees? spiritual growth and leadership abilities,? Tyar explained.

This session was then ended with an invitation for everyone to join the festivity of the 23rd UPH Festival through various events that are open for public, on Saturday, August 20, 2016, which started from morning until night, such as Open Day, Scholarship Day, Human Configuration, Music Performance and Friendly Match between the Basketball team of NUS (National University Singapore) and the Mae EAGLE Team of UPH.
