The 2016 Church Library Workshop

On Saturday, September 3, 2016, The Johannes Oentoro Library and GKI Gading Serpong did collaboration for the 2016 Church Library Workshop, which focused on the theme ?SliMS as Church Library Automation System?. This annual event took place at the Johannes Oentoro Library,  4th floor of C Building, UPH Karawaci.  Unlike the previous ones, this year?s workshop includes a book launching session for a book entitled ?SLiMS based Church Library?, which contains about the guide for administration and management of church library with the SLiMS program (Senayan Library Management System).

During the event, approximately 27 participants from ten institutions, such as GKI Anugerah, GKI, Jatihasih, GKI Gading Serpong, GKI Perniagaan, GKI Samanhudi, GKI Serpong, GKY Mangga Besar, BPK Penabur, Sekolah Kristen Gamaliel and Yayasan Matahati, were present. The workshop was divided into two classes, basic and advanced class.

According to Ms. Esterina Jonatan as the  Johannes Oentoro Library Manager, this workshop is the actualization of the Three Pillars of Tertiary Education (Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi); that is to serve the community.

?Hopefully, through this  annual community service, which was conducted by the Johannes Oentoro library and GKI Gading Serpong, could motivate other churches to start to build and manage their own libraries,? said Esterina.

On that occasion, Priest Santoni, pastor of GKI Gading Serpong,  also emphasized the importance of library within the  church.

?The form of library service in the church can contribute to the growth of the church members? faith and knowledge, through Christian literature writings,? he added.
