Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology (FaST) Talked about Three Fundamental Issues in Science and Technology

Prof. Manlian opened his session with an explanation about the three fundamental issues in science and technology: innovation, transformation and sustainability. According to him, these three things are also the determinant for the success of students and lecturer in their work. But above it all, he emphasized that the most important thing is to have a Christ-like character in their work in science and technology.

He also explained that the vision of FaST is prioritizing the integration between Science (creation) and the Creator, within the learning process. To achieve that, lecturers will help students by building a relationship as well as in writing and working on a research with the students. But, he added, the role of parents are still very important for students? learning process.

?Parents involvement is very important. We strongly suggest that any information from parents should not be conveyed through secondary communication media (Twitter, Whatsapp, LINE), but through a primary communication, by talking with them directly,? Prof. Manlian stated.

 During the Dean?s Talk, participants were being introduced to a variety of learning facilities which has been provided to support students in exploring science and technology, among them are high-standard lab, competent teaching staffs, as well as all staffs from the student affairs to the administration, who are ready to help students throughout their learning; and not to forget, a high quality infrastructure.

During the Forum, Andri Panjaitan, ST., MT., the Director of Administration Direktur Administrasi as well as the Head of the six Departments in FaST, Dr. Kie V Ivanky Saputra, Head of Mathematics Department, Dr.-Ing. Jack Widjajakusuma, Head of Civil Engineering Department, Dr. Henri P. Uranus, Head of Electrical Engineering Department, Laurence, MT, Head of Industrial Engineering Department, Ir. W. Donald R. Pokatong, M.Sc., Ph.D, Head of Food Technology Department and Agustina Susanti, Head of Biotechnology Laboratory, were also present.

After the presentation session, there was also a Q&A session with the Dean and Department Heads. Participants were given the opportunity to meet and discuss their concerns with the Head of Department in which they?re interested for. (kl/mv)
