Dean?s Talk: UPH Faculty of Medicine Committed to Obtain Competent Doctors

?Competent Doctors? became the topic for the Dean?s Talk of the UPH Faculty of Medicine, which was held on September 10, 2016, at STTPH?s Restaurant.

Dr.dr.Allen Widysanto Sp.P, Vice Dean of UPH Faculty of Medicine Explained Several Things Concerning the Curriculum
 

?Competent Doctors? became the topic for the Dean?s Talk of the UPH Faculty of Medicine, which was held on September 10, 2016, at STTPH?s Restaurant. This event was held to introduce 12th grade students and parents, to the program in the Medical Faculty of UPH. This event was followed by 120 participants, including parents and high school students who want to continue their studies in the UPH Faculty of Medicine.

During the information session, Dr. dr. Julius Juli, SpBS,. M. Kes., Dean Assistant of the Medical Faculty of UPH and Dr. dr. Allen Widysanto ,. Sp.P., Vice Dean of the Medical Faculty of UPH, conveyed various information, regarding the UPH Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Julius explained that the Medical Faculty of UPH is very determined to prepare and produce the next generation of competent doctors. ?We have to realize that we can?t be a doctor forever, thus it is important to prepare a new generation of competent doctors who will be our successor in the future. UPH is the right choice, the right place for future doctors to learn, because here, students are facilitated to be directly involved with the real life of a doctor,? he explained. At the same time, he also encouraged parents to entrust their children to learn in the UPH Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Julius then continued his session by reviewing the benefit which will be received by the students of the Faculty Medicine, such as facilities, learning activities as well as their future lecturers. According to him, the lecturers here are able to produce young competent doctors, ?As we all know, there are many great Doctors in Siloam Hospital and they will be the lecturers of your children, once they got here,? he explained once more.

The information regarding the curriculum was presented by Dr. Allen. She explained in detail about the  SPICES (Student centered learning, Problem based learning, Integrated, Community oriented, Early clinical exposure) based curriculum.

?As senior doctor, we will facilitate your children to learn and to find the answer by themselves, we will only encourage them with motivation to be a good and better doctor, with greater competence than us,? said Dr. Allen in her session.

There was also a presentation regarding the achievements and Student Activities of the UPH  Faculty of Medicine. Ezra, one of the participants of this event said that there were many things which he got from this event.

?My parents are very interested to send my brother here, because of the holistic and faith-integrated learning which was offered, and this event has truly helped to understand other important information, which definitely ensures them to bring my brother here?.

After the presentation, there was also a Q&A session as well as consultation with speakers. The Student Consultant Team of UPH was also ready to help students and parents who want to know how to register, the scholarship program as well as the facilities in UPH, which includes the infrastructure as well as the Student Activity Units in UPH.
