UPH Faculty of Law Held an International Moot Court Competition for High School

UPH Faculty of Law as one of the most established Indonesian Law faculty in International Moot Court Activities hosted the one of its annual International Moot Court Competition for High School Students

UPH Faculty of Law as one of the most established Indonesian Law faculty in International Moot Court Activities hosted the one of its annual International Moot Court Competition for High School Students, 4th-6th November 2016. This year marks the first decade of the competition with the second highest enthusiasm rate with 24 participating teams from national and international schools in Indonesia.

The aim for this event is to promote UPH?s Faculty of Law to the high school students as well as to build connection between UPH and other supporting institutions. The judges of the competitions were lawyers working in prominent national and international law firms, academicians and NGO activists. In the upcoming year, the International Law Moot Court Competitions is expected to grow as one of the most prestigious English speaking competition for high school students in Indonesia.

The 24 participating teams were assessed based on their memorial and oral performances. The combined score will then determine the qualification for quarter rounds where the teams were judged solely based on their oral performances by the judges.

Morning Star Academy triumphs as the champion of the competition after the final rounds against SMA Al-Izhar Jakarta, leaving another team from Morning Star Academy and team from UPH College in the semi final rounds. Other participating schools although did not qualify to the quarter, semi or final of the rounds showed high competitive quality, winning the Best Memorials (Elza Syarief Award) and Best Oralist Awards. The winning team and the best oralist of this competition will be given 75% scholarship in the faculty and whereas the runner up will be given 50% scholarship.

The success of the event was nonetheless inseparable from the support of many assistances that the committee received. The 10th International Law Moot Court Competition for High School students would like to give special thanks to: 1) Mr John Riady and Mrs Chew Xuan Wei, 2) Elza Syarief Law Office, 3) Perhimpunan Advokat Indoensia (Peradi) 4) Sahala SA Pangaribuan & Associates, 4) PT. Multipolar Technology Tbk. 6) Hotel Aryaduta Lippo Village & Aryaduta Country Club 7) Participating teams 8) Pak Bintan as the Dean and other UPH Law Faculty members including the staff for their supports to this competition.
