?As a teacher, we have to take part in engaging our students in thinking in a long-term frame, be responsible and to have a good character. Teachers have to tell their students, transparently and honestly about what is the goal of a holistic education. This holistic education concept, is very suitable for the new Jakarta,? said Kadarwati, who hopes that the teachers in this seminar, could really feel the benefit of this seminar.
This event was opened with a speech from the Rector of UPH, Dr. (Hon) JonathanL. Parapak, M.Eng., Sc., the Senior Advisor of YPPH, Dr. Niel Nielson and the Representative of the Head of the Department of Education of Central DKI Jakarta, Kadarwati Mardiutama.?In his speech, Jonathan L. Parapak stated the importance of teacher?s role as a commendable figure.

?I truly appreciate the hard works of all teacher and teachers should appreciate their own work too. In UPH, we also believed that education is very important. We chose to run a transformative and holistic education, because we are very sure that the ultimate necessity of this nation is a way to fully develop its people, and only with a transformative and holistic education, can this goal be achieved,? explained Jonathan
In relation to the importance of a transformative-holistic basic of education, the Rector of UPH gave an example of Yayasan Pendidikan Pelita Harapan (YPPH), who had committed to run a holistic and transformative education through its school, that are continuously developing, in various region of Indonesia and up until now, there have been 75 schools.
After the speech, the event was continued with a seminar, divided into three sessions. The first session was hosted by Gunawaty Tjioe, B.Ed., M.Pd., Ph.D. ? The Vice-Rector of Academic who present the topic of ?Understanding Holistic-Transformational Education?, then the second session was led by Oh Yen Nie, S.E.,M.Ed. and Juniriang Zendrato, M.Pd., M.Ed., with the theme of ?Active Learning Methodologies? and the last session was brought by Romandito Mahendrayudha, S.Kom., M.B.A., M.Ed., with ?Concept-Based Learning? as the topic.
?By understanding the fact, that teacher as the educator have an essential role and responsibilities for the future, thus hopefully, this seminar could enhance teacher?s understanding about what is holistic education and concept-based education. Teachers were also expected to have a great goal, which is to create a leader out of their students,? Said?Grace Salim, Executive Director of Business School UPH, who also initiated the event. (Mt)
