Students of UPH Visual Communication Design Won 3 Awards on ?Jakarta in Motion?

Students of Visual Communication Design Department from UPH School of Design have successfully achieved three awards on ?Jakarta in Motion’ competition, which was held on August 18 until December 1, 2016

Students of Visual Communication Design Department from UPH School of Design, have successfully achieved three awards on ?Jakarta in Motion? competition, which was held on August 18 until December 1, 2016. Two of UPH VCD teams have successfully become the first and third winner of the competition, while the other team won an award for ?Best Concept?.

 

For this competition, the Visual Communication Design Department of UPH sent 9 teams, with a majority of 2015 students and one team from batch 2014. This year, it has been the second time for Mall Taman Anggrek Jakarta to held ?Jakarta in Motion’competition. Last year, 2015, the Visual Communication Design of UPH had also won first place.

 

This year, winners of the competition would be announced at the end of the event, which was held on December 15, 2016, at Center Atrium. The first place was successfully taken by UPH team which consisted of Jonathan Alexander, Jefferson Kurnia, and Erika. Third place was won by another team from UPH, which consisted of Priscilla Agatha, Darwin Darmatama, and Putu Widyayana Putra. Whereas for the winner of ?Best Concept’ category, was also taken by UPH team, which consisted of Adrian, Daniel, and Kezia (batch 2014).

 

Jakarta in Motion itself is the first motion graphic competition, which was held by Mall Taman Anggrek for all University Students in Indonesia that incorporates LED (Light Emitting Diode) Fa?ade as a medium.  This competition encourages all participants to visualize the charm of the tourist attractions in Jakarta into a 15-second motion graphic, which will be divided into two kinds of video, high and low resolution.

 

In this competition, various works were submitted and all of those would go through a selection process that will result in 30 works. Later on, 8 best works will be chosen through a judging process. As for the judges, there were several names such as Adi Panuntun, CEO and Creative Head PT. Sembilan Matahari, Gerald Sebastian, Co-Founder of ?Kok Bisa?’ channel and Sonti Pangaribuan, Head of Tourism Attraction and Destination, Department of Tourism and Culture of DKI Jakarta.

 

According to Elvira Indriasari, Advertising and Promotion Manager PT Mulia Intipelangii, this competition was held to become a place for the young generation to channel their talents and creativity through LED as the media. Furthermore, she added that this competition, which has entered its second year, is also held to support the government’s plan in campaigning the usage of LED to replace conventional billboard which could hopefully, make Jakarta an even more beautiful place at night.
