UPH Symphony Orchestra ?BEETHOVEN AND THE ROMANTICS? 

 

An astonishing performance from UPH Symphony Orchestra, who brought 9 pieces from 19th century musicians, was complied in a concert entitled ?BEETHOVEN AND THE ROMANTICS?. The concert was warmly welcomed by approximately 200 audiences who were gathered at the D501 Auditorium UPH Karawaci, on January 26, 2017. Conducted by Michael B. Mulyadi, S.Kom, M.A., who is also the Coordinator of Orchestra and Conducting Studies, at Conservatory of Music UPH, this concert has successfully become a remarkable one. The conductor has successfully brought the audiences to the romantic age and surely, left them amazed.

 

The concert presented nine pieces, which was divided into 2 sessions. The first session includes Symphony No.1 in C Major, Op.21, L.V. Beethoven (1770-1827): Adagio molto-Allegro con brio, Andante cantabile conmotto, Menuetto: Allegro molto e vivace and Adagio-Allegro molto e vivace. While the second session include the other 5 pieces, such as The Barber of Seville Overture dan Kaizer Waltzer, serta 3 karya yang dibawakan solois Ridolf Hehanussa,  antara lain I’ll Walk with God, E lucenvan le stele and Agnus Dei.

According to Michael, the pieces for this concert were chosen while considering the needs of UPH Symphony Orchestra members: to broaden and deepen their knowledge in symphonic music from the romantic age (19th century) which started at the end of 18th century by Beethoven. Thus, this concert was

 

In this concert, various pieces will be performed and it includes performances with the soloist. These pieces were especially chosen to promote the quality and competence of the Vocal Department of CoM UPH and also as a learning method for these young musicians, through an early exposure with vocal and opera music, so that they can learn to adapt and collaborate with soloist. Throughout the process before the concert, these pieces were arranged in such a way so that the audience can be enriched with general knowledge in music.

 

?Besides that, this concert was also held to begin a new year for UPH Symphony Orchestra and other activities in UPH. Thus, Emperor Waltz, which becomes one of the most common standards for New Year?s celebration in Vienna, is very suitable for the situation, especially with its delightful, comforting and festive melody,? Michael added.

 

This concert also received full support from the leaders of UPH, who have always encouraged CoM UPH developments. The Dean of CoM, Antonius Priyanto, S.Ag., B.CM., M.Mus, who was present at the occasion conveyed his appreciation towards the dedication and loyalty shown by these young musicians of CoM UPH.

 

?This concert has become a milestone for Conservatory of Music UPH in becoming more advanced and known by the society. Upon creating competent musicians, we did a tight selection process for the students which prior musicality, professionalism, and motivation,? Antonius explained.

 

At the end of the concert, the Dean and Mrs. Anne Parapak who came as the representative for UPH Rector gave an appreciation to all performers who was represented by Micahel B. Mulyadi as the conductor of UPH Symphony Orchestra and Ridolf Hehanussa, soloist. (rh)
