In attempt to support the competency of its students, UPH Faculty of Psychology encourages them to participate in various competitions.  Along 2016, students of UPH Faculty of Psychology had successfully gotten four achievements from various competitions.  One of them is being the 2nd winner for Quiz Competition in Psychology Village UPH on March 12-18, 2016, with Audrey Eunike (2015), Kenneth Tanaka (2014) and Grazella Natasha (2015) as participants. This competition was followed by 8 universities in Indonesia such as Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Bina Nusantara, Universitas Negri Surabaya, Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Diponegoro and many more.

Another achievement was the 2nd winner for Psychology Quiz Competition in Psyphoria which was held by Universitas Tarumanegara on May 23, 2016. This competition was followed by four 2015 students, Chintya Huanguos, Audrey Eunike, Wulan Puspa Indah and Sherlyn Chang. This competition was also followed by various public universities such as Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Udayana, etc. as well as private Universities such as Universitas Sanata Dharma, Universitas Soegijapranata, etc.

Aside from that, students of UPH Faculty of Psychology has also successfully won the 2nd place in Psychology Quiz Competition and Debate during Psyferia, which was held by Universitas Padjajaran on September 23-25, 2016. The Quiz Competition was followed by 2014 students; they were Kenneth Tanaka, Christella Ruslan and Nathania Vrischika, whereas, for the debate competition, there were William Liman (2014), M. Ahwy Karuniado (2014) and Phoebe Carolyn (2015). This annual event, which was held by UNPAD Faculty of Psychology, was also followed by various renowned public and private universities in Java.

The faculty has quite an active role in encouraging students to join various competitions, starting from the socialization, team selection up to the preparation for the competition. For each competition, students would have to submit a proposal through Psychology Student Association. Once they have gotten an approval from the Faculty, the team who will participate in a competition will do an independent training. Although students are encouraged to train independently, the faculty still encourages them wholeheartedly and lecturers are always open for any discussion with the students.

Kartika Shanti Sitorus, Head of Psychology Department UPH, hopes that through every competition, these students can become an inspiration for the others.

?We hope that every achievement can inspire other students in the Faculty to become even more actively involved in joining competitions and other activities both national and international,? Kartika stated.

Through its participation in the event, UPH Faculty of Psychology hopes that they could become the light and salt for everyone involved, according to the Biblical Perspective. ?This what makes UPH Faculty of Psychology special, in here students are equipped with holistic education where they are encouraged to learn, to understand about their Creator, God the Holy Trinity whom was known within the body of Christ, so they can identify themselves as God?s creation and thus, they can go past their struggles in life by knowing the purpose of their existence. This vision reflects through every academic and non-academic activity in the faculty, including every interaction which has been intentionally planned with the civitas academica,? she added.

With such distinctive features, the abilities of UPH Psychology students could surely be aligned with other Psychology students in Indonesia; and for the students of UPH Psychology, we hope that they can actively participate in various activities to enhance their intellectual abilities, professionalism and their individual character,? Kartika said once again.

For this year, Kartika also informed that some students are in the middle of preparation for several competitions such as Psychology Quiz Competition (Psychosmart) and Debate Competition (Psychodebate), in the 8th Psychology Village UPH in March 2017 and also another Psychology Quiz Competition (Psycompilation National 2017) in Universitas Maranatha, Bandung on May 2017.
