Quality Improvement in Tourism Sector through Digital Marketing

Digital development has been widely deployed to make marketing for products and services more effective and efficient. The travel industry is also one of those who deploy digital developments to improve its marketing.

Digital development has been widely deployed to make marketing for products and services more effective and efficient. The travel industry is also one of those who deploy digital developments to improve its marketing. This statement was explained by the Head of Hospitality Management Program of Pelita Harapan School of Hospitality and Tourism, Amelda Pramezwary, A.Par., M.M., during a live talk show with Beritasatu, July 21, 2017 at Beritasatu TV Studio Lab, FISIP-UPH Karawaci, Tangerang.

 

?Digital marketing can be used to improve the quality of service in the travel industry. Tourists always demand ease of access, especially in getting information. Digital Marketing is able to facilitate this kind of demands and therefore, it will be easier for tourists to plan their trips,? Amelda explained.

 

Moreover, Amelda also informed that nowadays, more service providers have been combining both offline and online services options in offering their Tour Packages in order to increase sells.

 

According to Amelda, the potential employment of digital marketing is able to support information transparency. Hence, tourists are able to directly compare one service providers and the other

?With the information transparency within the online platform also demands service providers to arrange unique and innovative Tour Packages options. Specialization is very important in order to improve one product,? Amelda explained.

 

Aside from that, Amelda also emphasized that before running a digital marketing platform, a service provider has to understand who is their target customer, and the customer themselves, to ensure that the provided platform is right on target.

 

According to Amelda, an example of a currently popular platform is social media, such as Instagram. Amelda believes that Instagram can become an effective media to market a destination, because interesting pictures are also included

 

Thus, as the Head of Hospitality Management, Amelda gladly welcomes the potentials offered by digital marketing for further use, but she also reminded that there is another important aspect that we all have to remember, and that is to have qualified and competent human resources to run the travel industry.
