Biola University Explore Cooperation in Science, Technology and Health Science in UPH

Biola University once again visited UPH Karawaci to discuss the cooperation development between the two institutions. A series of activities were also undertaken during the visit which took place from 5 October to 10 October.

Like an earlier visit, Barry H. Correy, President of Biola University also attended with five other delegates, among them are Deborah Taylor, Provost; Adam Morris, Vice President for Advancement; Michael Pierce, Paul Ferguson; Dean of School of Science, Technology and Health and David Shynn, Senior Director for New Ventures and University Planning.

This visit was warmly welcomed by UPH senior leaders represented by Drs. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, Rector of UPH, Dr. Gunawaty Tjioe, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Hana Herawati, Vice Rector for Finance and Administration, Dr. Curtis Jay Taylor, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Dr. Niel Nielson, Dean of Business School, Budhi T. Yuwono, Senior Assistant to Rector, and Stephanie Riady, Deputy Vice-Rector for Finance and Administration.

The main focus of this visit is to explore the potential cooperation between UPH and Biola University especially in the field of Science and Technology and strengthen cooperation in the field of Health Science that has been previously established. Discussion about this potential cooperation took place at UPH Karawaci Rectorate Office on Friday, October 6, 2017.

In science and technology discussions, Faculty of Science and Technology (FaST) representatives of UH are participated by Eric Jobiliong, Dean of FaST, Jack Widjajakusuma, Head of Department of Civil Engineering, Reinhard Pinontoan, Head of Department of Biotechnology, and W. Donald R. Pokatong, Chairman Department of Food Technology. While the Biola University is represented by Deborah Taylor and Paul Ferguson. Topics of discussion on the challenges in science and technology faced by both parties in Indonesia and America. And the exchange of ideas that can be developed by both parties.

On the occasion also discussed specifically the implementing faith into daily life, especially in the field of science and technology.

While Paul Ferguson added in his interview opportunity; he conveys the impression of what the Civil Engineering UPH has done and its achievements, and Biotechnology through its application in Indonesia and also how UPH prepares Food Science and Technology students to the industrial world.

Through this meeting, both institutions are expected to work together and synergize to meet the challenges that exist especially in implementing the Christian faith in Science and Technology. (?)
