Tangerang – As a Doctoral Degree graduate of Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) Law Faculty with a very commendable judicial value, Theo Lekatompessy is ready to contribute to society and state in establishing a healthy and justice legal system.
It was said after the graduation for a doctoral degree (S3) of Law at UPH Senate Open Session in Lippo Village, Karawaci, Tangerang, Friday (25/8). Theo was able to defend his dissertation entitled “Certainty of the Rights of Citizens to Suit Indemnification of the World Trade Organization Decision – Dispute Settlement Body (WTO-DSB)” under Prof.’s guidance. Dr. Ida Bagus Supanca as the promoter and Dr. V. Henry Soelistyo as co-promoter.
The Head of Session and Rector of UPH, Dr (HC) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng, Sc acknowledged the results of Theo’s research is very interesting for Indonesian law and can be learning for many parties, including university. He assessed the results of the dissertation shows in detail which can be a guide that can be the hand of state law decision-makers.
?Hopefully the science written by Theo can be donated to the country and expectantly it can be implemented to the society. For UPH this is a pride and we hope our graduates can contribute to the alma mater for the betterment of the nation, “he said.
Jonathan acknowledges that currently very limited people who understand deeply the international of treaty law including the basic aspects of the law that Indonesia is certainly needed. For example, whenever there are negotiations with outsiders, Indonesia must have the certainty and firmly position in law.
“That is what UPH is developing, and in our Faculty of Law, we focus on the international law. So what Theo studied is a good input for UPH. We need people like him who have the experience to review and research, let alone bureaucratic or academic approach sometimes lack understanding in the real field issues, so the issue of legal basis needs to be prepared carefully, “he concluded.
