The collaboration between Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) and Korem (Komando Resort Militer) 052/Wkr is now official, after the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on May 8th, 2018 at Building A, UPH Lippo Village. The MoU is signed directly by UPH Rector, Dr. (Hon) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., and Colonel Kav. Agustinus Purboyo, S.Ip as the Korem representative.
The collaboration between UPH and Korem 052/Wkr is in the realms of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (the Three Values of Higher Education) ? Education, Research, and Community Service. The details of the events will be explained through a separate agreement, according to the needs of each event. Nevertheless, each event and activity conducted will focus on the improvement of human resources, education and training, scholarly activities, seminars, workshops, charity work, analyzations and consultations, and other related activities.
It is the hope that this five-year collaboration can strengthen the relationship between the affiliated parties and can also promote activities conducted by the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi, which is certainly beneficial for lecturers, staff, students, and also for Korem 052/Wkr.
This formal inauguration was preceded by a pilot project from the ?Kosmos (Komunikasi Sosial) Kreatif Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris? (?Kosmos (Social Communication) Creative English Teaching) program on the 26th of April 2018 at UPH Lippo Village, for the Kodim 0502 2018 area. This event is one of the realizations of the collaboration between Korem and UPH as part of the program of Kodim and Korem.
In this event, children of soldiers and those living around Legok, from under the age of five to those in the sixth grade, gathered in UPH to learn English with the students of International Teachers College (ITC) UPH. Around 20 students joined this activity.
This activity was conducted along with the launching of the Kosmos (Social Communication) Creative English Teaching program by Kodim 0502 in the Multipurpose Room of the Majelis Talim Darul Ulum, Muara Karang, North Jakarta. After the launching, all the members of Kodim and Korem, in their respective places, did a teleconference through their smartphones to report on the ongoing English teaching activities, like the one conducted live at UPH. Along with UPH, several universities ? Tarumanegara University, Mercubuana, and several others – also conducted this same event at the same time.
In the future, UPH hopes to contribute to the intellectual advancement of the nation through this collaboration with various parties, one being with Korem 052/Wkr. |
