UPH Eagles Basketball Teams to Compete at the LIMA 2018 National Round

The UPH Eagles Basketball Teams made it to the final round of Liga Mahasiswa (LIMA) 2018 that will be held on August 9-16, 2018, at the Universitas Airlangga Surabaya Sports Center.

UPH won this ticket after beating its competitors in the regional round. The UPH Eagles Male Basketball team beats its rival, Universitas Esa Unggul Basketball Team, with a score of 89-66. UPH?s Female team also triumphs over Universitas Esa Unggul with a score of 62-41.

Azwar Mukhlis, LIMA Department Manager of Competition, explained that this year, the system between the male and female competitions are modified and made different because of an increase in the number of participants. The male teams are divided into 2 groups, resulting in the competition having a semifinal and final round. On the other hand, the female teams are placed in 1 group with the round robin system, where each team will compete against every other team twice.

Azwar reported that the participants, as well as the supporters, were enthusiastic in taking part in LIMA Basketball. This is thanks to the fact that LIMA is a prestigious event that helps students improve their sports skills and abilities.

The 6th season of LIMA Basketball, 2018, is held in Tangerang, Bandung, Medan, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya. LIMA, as a private institution, aims to hold this competition based on aspects in the sports industry in terms of facilities, sponsors, tickets, and merchandise. Everytime LIMA holds its competition, it always emphasizes on the sports facilities owned by the host university, in the hopes that other universities can follow suit and bring the audience closer and familiarize them with sports competitions in the university level.

Dharmawan Prasidya Soegondo, one of the members of the UPH Eagles Male Basketball Team, declared that to him, this competition is particularly exciting because the players can discover their individual strengths and weaknesses. For him, winning is not the main goal in this competition ? instead, it is to perform to the best of their abilities.
