UPH Festival 25 which was held on 15-18 August 2018 will be enlivened by the performance of UPH Conservatory of Music (CoM) through a special ‘Gala Concert – “NEW BEGINNING’ which will be held at the Grand Chapel UPH Lippo Village, Tangerang on August 16, 2018.

Revie Pongoh, the Gala Concert event coordinator stated that this concert was a form of appreciation for what CoM students had learned.

“Through this Gala Concert we want to show the public the results of learning at the Conservatory of Music, this show can be said as the UPH Conservatory of Music showcase,” said Revie.

Revie also explained the theme of ‘NEW BEGINNING’, because Gala Concert had not been held for a while in the UPH Festival, and finally CoM could re-present the Gala Concert show.

“This Gala Concert will come with the concept of a Classical Music Concert in an Orchestra format under the conductor; Michael M. Budiman, with 50 personnel who are UPH CoM students from 2015 – 2017. As well as UPH Conservatory of Music Choir performance with 30 personnel under the guidance of Josephine Polim. Besides, we will present 3 instrument soloists who are the winners of the instrument competition held in CoM a while ago, such as violin cello: Jonathan William, flute: Ryon Regasa, and Soprano: Jaqoeline Toruan,” Revie explained.

Each performance at the Gala Concert will present a repertoire that is certainly packed nicely. UPH Symphony Orchestra features Carl Nielsen – Helios Overture; Acapella Choir displays the work of Moses Hogan; and Student Soloists presented several works, including Luigi Boccherini – Cello Concerto no. 9, G.482, W.A. Mozart – Flute Concerto in D Major, KV. 314, Johann Strauss – Mein Herr Marquies from Die Fledermaus, L.v. Beethoven – Piano Concerto no. 3, Op. 37.

For the preparation of this Gala Concert, Revie admitted that this time each section had conducted sectional training, and to maximize the preparation, on 13-15 August, a joint exercise would be held involving all the performers.

‘NEW BEGINNING’ Gala Concert is open to public and free of charge with an audience of approximately 1,000-1,300 audiences. For those who wish to attend, they only need to send an email to Pauline.fis@uph.edu for reservation with the format ‘Name (space) number of guest (space) e-mail address (space) contact number‘.

Indeed with this concert, Revie and the UPH CoM team hope that this presentation can provide new enthusiasm and inspiration for the viewers who come to enjoy the music that is presented as well as to introduce the best music education of UPH Conservatory of Music.
