On the third day of UPH Festival 17, the UPH new students attended a lecture about brain?s function in the learning process. According to Prof. Dr. dr. Eka J. Wahjoepramono, Sp. BS, if we only use our brain to read, then it will only memorize only the 20% of the content. If we use our listening function, our brain will memorize only the 30% of the content, while by vocalizing it, our brain will absorb 50%. He also mentioned that when we put it into actions, our brain will grasp to 60% and when we do it altogether at once, the capacity will increase to 90%. Prof. Dr. dr. Eka J. Wahjoepramono, Sp.BS. is currently serving as the Dean of Medical Faculty at UPH. He also recommended the students to do an Active Learning to develop more in the university, not only by listening or reading, but also to do it as a whole. As a professor who really loves to learn about brain, he admitted that he learns not only for his own advantages, but also for others so they can be as successful as he is. ?If others are able to do so, why can?t I? And if I am able, then you are able too,? he said. With this new paradigm, then we can say that lecturers or teachers are no longer educators and insturctors, but facilitators and companions. ?Those students have to be dilligent to read their books themselves, ? he affirmed.
