UPH Festival 20: Mentor Time

In this year festival, UPH had an increase in the numbers of mentees, which is 2500 new students. Therefore, every mentor would handle about 15-35 mentees. Because of that, the mentors had to give more attention to their mentees.

The event of UPH Festival 20 would not have a significant progress without the roles of the UPH Mentors. In this year festival, UPH had an increase in the numbers of mentees, which is 2500 new students. Therefore, every mentor would handle about 15-35 mentees. Because of that, the mentors had to give more attention to their mentees.

On the third day of UPH Festival 20, 5 UPH head mentors: Kris, David Gunawan, Jane, Nita, and Agnes introduced UPH Mentoring program to the new students. According to Kris? explanations, this is the seventh year for UPH Mentoring to be held. ?As we become seniors, that means we have to give a good example for our juniors,? he added, followed by applause from UPH Festival 20 participants. ?We are here as people who have the heart to serve our juniors.? He concluded.

The activities of the mentors of UPH Mentoring program include sharing session with the mentees academically and non-academically. ?The mentors here have the responsibility to help you, and they are people with commitments. So don?t be afraid, because they have a good heart,? he continued. Kris hoped that the mentors and mentees can become a family that is close with each other.

One of the head mentors, Maria Angelinne Hanita Putri, has been motivated to become a mentor ever since she was a mentee in UPH Festival during her year. She was so moved by the attention and guidance from her mentor. Because of that, this mentor, who often addressed by the name Nita, decided to join the mentoring program so that she could give back what she had received by giving the best for the next generation. New students were proven to need the presence of the mentor, they asked many questions around the academic field, among those questions are about the SKS, how to join a subject by using he OPCS system, how the lecturers are in the department, and many more.

Mentors will accompany the new students for one year and hopefully, by next year they are also interested to be the mentor for the next cohort.(ym)
