Tips for Facing Recruitment Process

A successful career needs an understanding on how to relate with others as well as building a positive relationship in the working environment. To equip the would-be-graduate of UPH that will enter the career world, UPH Career Center regularly hold a career guidance program that invites professionals of renowned companies.

 

This time, the workshop highlighted ?dealing with recruitment process? with the speaker from HRD leaders of education and property field at Lippo Group. The purpose of this workshop is specifically focused to train on how to make a good CV and tips to face interview.

 
 
 The first speaker, Feteriadi, from UPH Human Resources Development & Legal Aspects, explained the condition of employees demand in the education field. ?In general, every company wants employees who share the same vision and know well the company that the employees will work in,? he said. ?That is why, I always ask, ?Do you know UPH well??, ?What are your goals as you are working 10 years later?? I encounter many fresh graduate applicants that cannot anticipate to these kinds of questions,? Feteriadi explained.

To the workshop participants, he gave some tips when facing an interview, one of the advices is to get know the situations that relate to companies that we are going to enter in, have vision, understand your own passion or calling, know our own strength and weaknesses, give a positive first impression e.g. punctual, polite, neat and humble.

 

 

Jahja Sunarta ? Senior Talent Acquisition & Development Manager at PT. Lippo Karawaci, Tbk. ? featured as the speaker for the second session. At the beginning of his session, he explained media that are commonly used by companies to search for employees. ?Back then, applicants were the one that had to come to companies, but now, the companies are the one that have to pick them up. We come to the universities that have good reputation to get qualified employees,? said Jahja. The media that are used also varied from job board, newspaper, on campus recruitment, social media, connection, and executive search company.

Jahja gave advices to make a good CV; first is to create a header. The header purpose is to state our winning points e.g. for fresh graduates, they can state their own positive values. Second is to create a career objective by writing your own vision and passion. The third step is to make a list of your expertise that is relevant to the fields that you are going to enter. Fourth is to make a list of activities that you have attended. The fifth step is to make a complete and clear formal education background such as name of university, faculty, major, your interest, and GPA. The sixth is to make a list of achievement, it will be better if the achievements have relations with the working field that you apply to. The last step is to mention your hobby and interests that are relevant with your choice of working field.
 
 
The seminar took place at MYC Multipurpose Room on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 started from 1.00 p.m. and finished at 04.00 p.m. 40 participants joined in the workshop that came from various faculties and majors. At the end of the seminar, participants raised some questions about the explained tips and current job vacation at Group Lippo. (rh)
