Architecture students of UPH hosted Triennale Architecture exhibition at Gedung Tjipta Niaga, Kota Tua, Jakarta. This exhibition with theme ?Waktu adalah Ruang? was held on July 25-August 8, 2015. This event is a three years tradition with a collection of interesting discussion about architecture.
Denna Fascia, publication committee of Triennale Architecture UPH 2015 shared that this exhibition has purpose to invite the visitors to feel the atmosphere of space and time. Time refers to hundred years history of the buildings. ?The old town makes us realize that architecture has time and space aspects, where both are invisible, inseparable, and interrelated. In architecture, especially in academic world, time manifests in learning process of students from first to last semester,? shared Denna Fascia in Triennale Architecture.
Denna explained that in this visually-dominated era, society considers space more than time. Thus, this exhibition emphasizes on time aspect to make us realize the time role related to architecture product and process. Digital world more emphasizes on time management than space management.
According to Denna, Triennale Architecture UPH 2015 is a reminder of the time role in architecture especially in academic world, where the time will manifest in learning process through the students? artworks from first to last semester.

UPH Architecture opened the event on July 25, 2015 with Movie Premiere & Epilogue. This 48 minutes duration film with title ?24 hours? is a documentary of architecture students? life and general knowledge about architecture study. The film scenes were mostly recorded from the activity at design studio UPH. In this film, also appeared many well-known architect practitioners, great teacher, and lecturers. (Video can be seen in Youtube account of upharchitecture).
?Although the film is not specifically highlight the university life of UPH Architecture students, generally I think that all architecture schools lead to the same direction. And it will be a strong foundation of how the learning process and situation become,? said David Hutama, Chairman of UPH Architecture Department when explaining the film.
?It is not weird if the classroom is a mess and there are students sleeping there. It is naturally like that. It is not just acting. Indeed there are many assignments. But not everyday is like that. The important information this movie shares is that each student?s way of studying is different, the discipline is different, and the creativity is also different from one to another. So, there are more than one answers of one problem. This dimension can be fun and frustrating at the same time,? David reminds the audiences which consist of architecture prospective students and parents. (fc/nn)
