There was something different from the usual UPH Open House. A concept of Amazing Race was chosen as the name of this program to introduce the high school students to the atmosphere of UPH Karawaci. This concept was a series of missions, which represented the faculties and majors at UPH. In this event, the students were required to develop teamwork as well as being active and smart in order to accomplish the missions. Amazing Race was held to welcome 120 students of grade 10 and 11 who were accompanied with three counselors from SMA Karang Turi Semarang. It was held on March 3rd, 2015 at 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The students were divided into groups and were required to accomplish a mission in each assigned station. There were 6 stations which comprised of faculty of Psychology, Computer Science, Conservatory of Music, Industrial Engineering, Sports Department and Johannes Oentoro Library.

Through this race, the students hopefully could know deeper of each faculty and its valuable information. Lastly, the event was continued with the presentation regarding the faculties and programs at UPH. ?The students hopefully could earn general insights to choose the right major that will determine their future in accordance with their own interests and competences. In addition, they are expected to know more about UPH both academically and non-academically in a more fun way,? said Elisa Laksana, Manager of Event and Promotion UPH.

Meanwhile, the representative of SMA Karang Turi Semarang counselors were also in the same page stated that the Open House this time was different from other universities that they have visited. ?The students are more mobile so they are not easily bored with the normal concept like mere presentation and campus tour,? stated Drs. Petrus Onj, M.Pd. Moreover, the green environment, respectable staffs and students, as well as innovative welcoming events left a great impression for Eldrian Evan Rahardja, The Head of Student Council SMA Karang Turi Semarang who enthusiastically participated at this event with his schoolmates.
