UPH Faculty of Medicine Invites The Indonesian Minister of Health to The National Dean’s Forum to Discuss The Quality of Medical Education in Indonesia.

On the 21st and 23rd of January 2022, Universitas Pelita Harapan Faculty of Medicines (FK UPH), hosted the National Dean’s Forum for the Association of Indonesian Private Medical Faculties (Fordeknas AFKSI) 2022, which was attended by Minister of Health (Menkes) of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, CHFC., CLU. This discussion that involved private faculties of medicines around Indonesia intends to improve the quality of health-care education and served as a forum for debating the quality of Indonesia’s medical education curriculum.

At the opening ceremony, Ir. Budi Sadikin said it is crucial for the A-accredited universities to provide specialist medical education so that more specialists can expand their services throughout Indonesia.

“Colleagues from the hospital and the university can collaborate. A-accredited institutions and private hospitals in Indonesia are obliged to encourage the establishment of more specialized study programs. This is done so that there are more specialists, because Indonesia still needs many specialists who are willing to serve in various places,” explained Ir. Budi.

Prof. Dr. dr. Eka J. Wahjoepramono, Sp.BS., Ph.D, Dean of the UPH Faculty of Medicine, said medical education institutions in Indonesia must be able to train qualified doctors and compete with foreign countries.

“This forum activity is vital because we need to listen and discuss how to improve the quality of medical education in Indonesia. This is done so that when we print the curriculum, we can determine whether our graduates meet national or even international standards. This will be a collaborative review to build an excellent medical education”, he said.

To attain this goal, FK UPH has established a Radiology Specialist Study Program to increase the quality of medical education in Indonesia. This is the first step in the provision of specialized study programs by private universities, increasing the opportunities for potential specialists and meeting the needs of various regions.

Through an innovative learning curriculum, FK UPH always provides students with the chance to apply their knowledge and enhance their abilities through hands-on experience. Come on, join UPH now! For more information, please contact Student Consultants at 0811-1709-901 or sign up online here.
