Jurusan Keperawatan – Fakultas Keperawatan UPH

Jurusan Keperawatan UPH bertujuan untuk menghasilkan para perawat profesional yang kompeten, memiliki belas kasihan, dan berpusat pada Kristus, untuk menjawab kebutuhan perawatan kesehatan masyarakat, serta berkontribusi terhadap kemajuan bidang keperawatan. Kurikulum jurusan Keperawatan UPH berfokus pada pendalaman bidang keperawatan yang dilakukan secara holistis, transformasional, dan kritis, yang mencakup ilmu, teori, dan praktik keperawatan. Mahasiswa juga berpartisipasi dalam riset, pelayanan masyarakat, dan berbagai pertemuan ilmiah terkait guna menanamkan pola pikir yang semakin berkembang sejalan dengan bidang pelayanan kesehatan yang terus berkembang.

Our Nursing Program aims to create a Christ-centered learning environment that will shape competent professional nurses equipped with true knowledge, guided by faith in Christ, and demonstrating divine character. Nurses equipped in this manner will be ready to meet rapidly changing global health needs, both nationally and internationally. This learning community will be cultivated through excellent, holistic, and transformational education. As a Christ-centered learning environment, our nursing program:

• Provides transformational, holistic learning strongly rooted in biblical truth, offering critical and comprehensive exploration of the nursing discipline and related sciences, theories, and practices.
• Contributes to the advancement of nursing knowledge and culture guided by a Christian, biblical worldview. This includes participation in nursing research, academic activities in the field of nursing, community service, and scientific meetings.
• Engages in the development of individuals, families, communities, and the general public by providing holistic nursing care guided by a Christian worldview based on the Bible. Holistic nursing care offers comprehensive care to individuals: physical, psychosocial, and spiritual.

Currently, we offer two nursing programs as follows:

Vice President 1 - Chief Academic Officer (Provost) & Executive Dean of Faculty of Nursing
Christine L. Sommers, Ph.D., RN, CNE CCRN Emeritus is the Executive Dean of Faculty of Nursing and Chief Academic Officer/Provost. She teaches Emergency and Critical Care, Spiritual Care in Healthcare, and Introduction to Nursing Profession courses. Her areas of interest include nursing education, critical care nursing, cultural diversity in nursing education, and learning environments. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio, Master in Nursing from University of Washington in Seattle, Nurse Educator Certificate Program from Washington State University, and PhD in Nursing from University of Kansas in Kansas City. She is also a Certified Nurse Educator.

Dr. Grace Solely Houghty,
M.B.A., M.Kep.

Dean of Faculty of Nursing
Dr. Grace Solely Houghty, M.B.A., M.Kep. completed her bachelor degree in 2004 from Universitas Advent Indonesia, majoring in General Nursing Studies. She, afterwards, gained her Master of Business Administration (2005) from Philippine Christian University and Master of Nursing (2013) from Universitas Indonesia. She once worked at Siloam Hospital Group in 2006. She is one of the editors of Jurnal Skolastik Keperawatan, a journal for nursing studies. In 2018 she had a chance to be the translator in Siloam BIMC Kuta accreditation by Australian Council on Healthcare Standards International. She is also active in research and community service. She loves nursing education and has a dream to see Indonesian nurses be recognized by the global community. She believes that those who are called to be nurses should also have a heart that is willing to serve like Jesus Christ. She works together with her team at UPH Faculty of Nursing to produce nurses who are competent, strong in character, compassionate and committed.

Yakobus Siswadi, MSN., DNSc is the Department Chair of Nursing & Ners Professional Education. He teaches Geriatric Nursing, Nursing Theory and Practice, Introdction to Nursing Process and Theory, and Medical Surgical Nursing courses. Students of the Faculty of Nursing (FON) won several categories in the National Nursing Festival 2015 held by the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Nursing Faculty (FIK) on November 20-22, 2015. Competing with leading universities in Indonesia such as UI, ITB, UNPAD, UNDIP, UNIBRAW, and others, the 1st place on the Spelling Bee was won by Grace Feoh, the 2nd place on the Speech Competition was won by Cindy Lawani, the 3rd place on the Peotry Competition by Sherlin Hia, and the 2nd place on the Fast Competition Right was won by Imas Dwi, Grasiana Su, and Febrica Putri.

WINNING SEVERAL CATEGORIES IN NATIONAL NURSING FESTIVAL 2015

Students of the Faculty of Nursing (FON) won several categories in the National Nursing Festival 2015 held by the Universitas Indonesia (UI) Nursing Faculty (FIK) on November 20-22, 2015. Competing with leading universities in Indonesia such as UI, ITB, UNPAD, UNDIP, UNIBRAW, and others, the 1st place on the Spelling Bee was won by Grace Feoh, the 2nd place on the Speech Competition was won by Cindy Lawani, the 3rd place on the Peotry Competition by Sherlin Hia, and the 2nd place on the Fast Competition Right was won by Imas Dwi, Grasiana Su, and Febrica Putri.

In addition, the FON students, Grace Feoh and Romayanti Sunurat, also won the 3rd place on the English Debate with the theme “Nurses’ role in diabetes and diabetic ulcer management” in the Nursing Scientific Festival 2015 held by Universitas Brawijaya (UNIBRAW) Malang on October 16-18, 2015. UPH FON also won the award with the 3rd largest average score and passed 100% of the 2015 Ners Indonesia Competition Test by Kemenristek Dikti, where only 3 nursing institutions passed 100% of approximately 409 S-1 Nursing in Indonesia.
