FOR I KNOW TO WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED
The theme for UPH Festival 2025 captures a profound spiritual truth: unwavering trust in the person of Christ. In 2 Timothy 1:12, the Apostle Paul speaks of his suffering not with shame but with confidence, grounded in his knowledge of Christ. This same message resonates deeply with incoming students at UPH who are stepping into a formative and often uncertain season of life. The theme is a declaration of assurance - not in personal strength, but in the faithfulness, power, and love of God who is able to guide, secure, and complete what He begins. It encourages students to build their identity and future not on shifting circumstances, but on a steadfast relationship with Christ.
This theme also thoughtfully considers the spiritual diversity of students attending UPH Festival. Some are born-again Christians, already walking in strong faith; for them, the theme affirms and strengthens their foundation, expressed freely in fellowship and worship. Others are professing Christians or Catholics who have not yet experienced personal rebirth in Christ; for them, the theme becomes an invitation - through testimonies, relationships, and meaningful engagement - to live out the truth believed into a living faith. For non-Christian students - whether Buddhist, Muslim, or secular - the message can be gently introduced through values-based storytelling, ethical examples, and authentic relationships that demonstrate the love and character of Christ. The key is to communicate with clarity, compassion, and contextual sensitivity, honouring each background while pointing toward transformation.
Furthermore, the theme speaks directly to the deeper identity struggles students may face. Questions like “Who am I?” and “Where am I going?” often shape their university experience. The theme answers these
“...which is why I suffer as I do. But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.”
