UPH’s Great Facilities Support Students’ Successes.

A university’s quality can be measured by their students’ successes. To realize their successes, a university requires several indicators that will support and work together effectively.

An essential indicator is the facilities provided by the university to spur the students’ education. If we are to talk about the best facilities, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) is a frontrunner, especially in providing facilities for Sound Design and Music Production students under Conservatory of Music (CoM).

This year, UPH added a laboratory for Sound Design and Music Production, completely equipped with new gear. This is adjusted to the needs of new music trends, which asks that students must not only be able to play their musical instruments but must also produce the music.

Previously, UPH has a laboratory used as a Workgroup Station for recording sessions. This facility is now being developed to include an additional Audio Work Station laboratory, where students can train their techniques, practice, and aesthetics.

According to Gerard Rumintjap, who is a professor of the School of Design (SoD), this laboratory is aimed to improve technical skills, which is the ability to use software for Editing and Mixing. He said, “Students use up-to-date software following the current trend, such as iZotope RX Bundle, Melodyne, Waves Audio Plugin Bundles, Pro Tools 12, Ableton Live 10, and Logic Pro X.”

The facility is also equipped with other types of equipment such as iMac 27 Inch, ARTURIA Keylab 61 Essential MIDI Keyboard Controller, Ableton Push 2, Native Instruments Komplete Audio 2, and Headphones Sennheiser HD 280, which will boost their performances in learning Musical Aesthetics I and II, Vocal Production, and Audio Post Maximum.
